I totally agree, and that's the reason I love Halo even more.

Yeah yeah, I'm a Christian. Let the anti religious comments roll in.

Eh, I still don't make that connection. I see it as somewhat taking a jab at Christianity, rather, what with the Covenant being a conquering force, rebelled against, split down the middle and whatnot.

Well, despite being agnostic I take an interest in this sort of thing and that's an interesting allegory you have constructed. Never actually thought about Halo that way.

War should be the only study of a prince. He should consider peace only as a breathing-time, which gives him leisure to contrive, and furnishes as ability to execute, military plans. -Macchiavelli

Well written but, the expanded universe and everything kind of shoots down that Jesus ever existed in the first place. The Halo Rings killed everything in the Galaxy, then the Forerunners repopulated the planet. Also one of the newest Halo books states that humanity was once super advanced then the Forerunners crushed us and sent us back to caveman times. Yes the thing could be looked at as a metaphor, but when you take the story the literal way it is going off in another direction.

I've seen my family fade away, You've taken my whole life left me nothing to say. Sitting in silence with heaven above me i prayed every night by their graves. I search for closure i feel it no longer i can't turn my face away. I stand before you Ive seen what I've had to but now i leave your sight to avenge my family, I've taken my whole life there's nothing left to say.

So the chief is jesus? That WOULD explain some things...

Two different universes. The Halo world and the real world aren't connected.

They say that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Good thing justice is blind.

Yep, sure has. It was too obvious through. that was the first thing i noticed. It was so blatantly obvious to me that I've been lookin for a thread just like this. And very, very good work OP.

Last time I checked Muslims don't believe Jesus was the savior only a mortal prophet. The OP portrayed MC as Jesus like in a savior sense. So unless Muslims started believing Jesus is the savior your argument doesn't fit. At least not for the OP.
actually they do believe he is human but he will return to earth to finish his job and challenge the antichrist. They believe he is still alive in heaven and was brought up before being crucified and before being caught. So he can be a saviour.

all abrahamic religions are similar and somehow are different, which one is true is up to you if you believe in one. either way if heaven exis all good people will go to heaven.

There are definitely Christian elements in the Halo Universe e.g Constant use of number 7.
I would say that the chief could be a Christian analogy bu definitely not the whole Halo Universe.

"The Halo franchise is a shining example of how something very mainstream can be something very deep, well made, and rewarding for many reasons."

I stopped here.

In terms of when the Religions showed up and also the way that the factions act within Halo... I always paralleled

God = Precursors
Jews; Jesus, Noah, etc. = Forerunners
Christians = The Covenant
Muslims = Humanity

The Covenant-Human war parallels the Crusades, with the Covenant (Christians) trying to re-take Forerunner relics from the humans.

Makes sense.
Except: Forerunners fought both Humanity and Precursors

at the OP - Really great stuff. I've always thought the Halo story had more levels to it than what's apparent on the surface. This is why the story is so great and why I'm still posting in this forum after all these years.

I'm an agnostic, and I don't think any of the serious posters in this thread have any kind of proselytizing agenda. Disbelief in God does not make the Bible (or even some of its teachings) a lie. Without a doubt it is the most powerful and influential work of literature in the history of man. Not to mention that it does contains incontrovertible historical fact as well. The Bible is certainly worthy of serving as an inspiration, and the fact that Bungie has gone to great length to include some of its elements makes me all the more proud to call Halo a great franchise and Bungie a great studio. Bungie has managed to elevate video games to a higher level of art and storytelling.

Despite the religious references, I doubt that Bungie has "picked sides," in any way, or intended an anti-christian or anti-religious message. It's just another way to add more depth and meaning to an already great story.

Really great stuff guys keep it coming!

Yes. I am a Battle Rifle machine. The DMR is a poor replacement.

There have been many connections made with Halo and the Bible, and whether this was an intention or not on Bungie's part, it will forever remind us that Halo has the most thought-out and advanced plot of any video game thus far in history.

The best event in the Halo series was the grunt rebellion!

Listen to some of this on, this site.

I just thought that was epic. Most of this I didn't consider. I am christian too!

Glad to see the posts are still coming strong! Just a few items to note about some recent posts. I'm not claiming that the Halo universe was created in such a way that Christianity is a natural part of it. What I'm saying is that there is an "allegorical" connection between the two, meaning that one represents the other. For example, the world of Narnia, one of the clearest Christian allegories in all of modern literature, would not argue that Christ existed in that magical world. Rather, it draws connections between characters in that fictional world and Christianity. That's more of what I'm getting here with Halo than an actual universal connection between Christ and aliens. That one would be a bit more far fetched, wouldn't it? The day Jesus shows up with an assault rifle to finish the fight once and for all is the day this thread becomes null and void. But until then, keep the posts coming and don't be afraid to ask questions or get in contact with me!
