This is an incredible step forward to being able to cure Downss sybndonre mn humans bineg.s
I don't have too many squabbles about Halo 3's matchmaking system. Unlike other games, it caters to Bungie and Halo's international fanbase by incorporating the 'Prefer Good Connection' option, so that gamers such as myself, being from Australia, can skip past all the bad connection hosts originating in whatever other continent they may be. I also happen to believe that the Trueskill system, as it is implemented in Halo 3, works quite well (although not quite as well in the Ranked matchmaking, but that's only due to cheaters and peoples misconceptions about the purpose of an Elo based system). My only real problem about matchmaking in Halo 3, is the lengthy search times, often from 5-10 minutes, depending on the playlist. Obviously, this isn't any fault of the system, and the only real way to remedy it as is implied would be to have more players online, which would be unrealistic, considering Halo's standings on the XBL charts.
You may say: simply party up with 9 other people in a game of Social Slayer. The problem with this, however, is that I play Halo, not only just to play the actual game, I also play it to play with friends. I do not find it especially fun playing against friends who I would rather play side by side with. So, my solution for Reach, would be to force any match made to automatically create a new game lobby. Through this game lobby, original parties are preserved, like in Call Of Duty 4's lobby system, so that you can keep the same lobby, playing through with the same people and have your original teammates on your team. You could join the lobby by either searching for a match and encountering the lobby, or by joining a friend/recent player, but only between games, if a team mate quits, that spot will remain vacant until the game ends, for purposes of allocating XP per game, rather than Call Of Duty's XP challenge system. You could also still enter with a number of people above the maximum party limit, although your full party would be preserved, you would have to alternate the people on the same team, like Halo's full party in social games already does. Obviously this would only exist in Social, as it would tarnish the integrity of Ranked games, and discourage true competitiveness, which is an asset Halo seems to attempt to preserve moreso than most games available now.
So, anyway, that is my idea for Reach's matchmaking systems. If I came to a conclusion while disregarding some logical flaw and deserve an epic facepalm, or you would like to add or comment on something, please share.
