Subject: Do you think we should be able to pick up jackal shields in reach?

I have always wanted to do this. And then plasma weapons destroy the shield in about 2 shots, but it takes more for human weapons. (Just like in Halo 1)

well if u didnt play halo 1 ce 2 or 3, then u obviously havent, because u dont know that when a jackel dies, his shield blows up. its official halo cannon. because its from the games. okay so if they blow up then, bungie says that halo 1ce halo 2 and halo 3 are fake. and they wouldnt do that. so the jackels shields are not usable!

but, actually it could be kinda cool to use them. duel weldable jackel shields please!! but bungie u need to be cannon so u have to make the master cheaf in this game be able to do a punch combo, where you grab the jackels arm, koratie chop his neck, snap his legs, and then slide the shields off his hands, and then onto urs. and u can do this 2 times, because as u know i said jackel shields should be duel weldable because dual welding is COOL.

what do you think about my theory, on jackel shields - being dual weldable in halo reach?

are you kinda obsessive with the details??

the Jackal's shield turn off because of memory, maybe because they just wanted to do it, is JUST A DETAIL FOR GOD SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T MIX STORY WITH GAMEPLAY. Look it would be stupid to see a dead jackal with a shield on isn't it?? maybe they saw it and sayd:

" m... it just doesn't look right.." and thats it, everything is more simple man

but HALO CANON?!? NO!!!!!!!

oh.. one more thing, the shields don't blow up they turn of... : )

MLG Cheehwawa... As a matter of fact I have played Halo 1, 2, and 3, and if you'll remember all the way back to Halo 1, you might remember that when you killed an elite with a sword that the sword seemingly "vanished" or "broke," just as the jackal shields have done in all three games. Yet, somehow in Halo 2, that all changed. When an elite died, he left his sword behind for you or I to pick up, and to use, and to enjoy as a useful tool in our struggle against the covenant and the flood.

So... that being said, would it be so hard to comprehend the idea of a slight change in the game, where an item once unusable in a game past, became usable in this new game? Hmmm???

Dedicated driver.

I've thought about this as well. If I could decide it would be a left-hand dual-wield weapon. It could be a great strategic implement.

I Love ODST. Nice game.

Yes, but only with a dual wieldable weapon, and only as the weapon in the left hand. The way it would probably work, is you pull the left trigger to automatically crouch, hold the shield in front of you, and move at regular crouching speed. Otherwise it would just be deactivated, and you would hold the weapon you are dual wielding as usual.
Maybe press the left trigger to melee with it.

Plus the shield destroys after the jackel lets it go.

*sigh*
the books are actually considered cannon and not the games cuz there just built as closely to them as possible. in fall of reach the spartans pick up energy shields when they kill jackals (bearing in mind they did not have shields built into their armour) they use them to protect themselves against the first time they see hunters. the reason why jackal shields blow up in the game is to make it clear to people that you cant use them.

ps no dual wieldable shields
what are ya guna do if any enemy walks up to you? cymbal smash them over the head?

NO!!! Energy sheilds are cheap enough, this would make it worse!!!!
Exactly If you have the jackal shield your pretty much indestructible. Unless someone comes from behind. But this would almost be a constant overshield.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Uhh, Cheehwawa, actually the Shields don't blow up, they just deactivate. JUST LIKE ENERGY SWORDS IN HALO CE. They can still be picked up and used by another person.

Also, Spartans have picked up shields off of dead Jackals in the books many many times. This supports my statement.

Jackal Shields would be perfectly Canon and would make plenty of sense.

OMG sarcasm just blew over my head, how embarrassing. Well either way... what I said makes goes. But ONLY the left hand should wield a Jackal Shield, not dual wield able, just if you have a dual wield weapon already, you can pick it up.

This kid's 14th in Europe. Don't even bother calling me bad.

That would work pretty well.

As soon as you release the left trigger, you deactivate the shield. Melee would automatically deactivate it as well. The question is, would it be worth deactivating the shield to Melee?

He was being sarcastic you idiot. I'm suprised no one's noticed this yet.

That's exactly the point, he was being sarcastic about the ability to use a jackal shield when there is no reason to be, because it is perfectly plausible to use a jackal shield. There are literally no factual, physical obstacles barring its use.

  • 08.31.2009 5:49 AM PDT

You just got Shakespeared!

Yes but only in campaign.

  • 08.31.2009 5:52 AM PDT

hi my name is curtis and love to play HALO!!!

yes i think we should be able to pick them up it would be a good idea cause it would make it more realistick. If you faught in war would you want to pick up the extra cover?

  • 08.31.2009 6:05 AM PDT

impossible is just a word

this is not a stupid idea for weak noobs i think this should be in reach campain mp forge and cg the sheild should be stronger then a jackal because jackle sheilds suck and wait listen to me people dont complian with you would be invincble because with my idea of what the sheil woulb like is quite good ok now my idea it can be used in conjution with dual weildable weapons and has 100 energy points or 50 different and each weapon deals so much damage
il try to give examples 1 rocket from the spnkr launcher will take down the sheild and much of the players sheild so it does between 100-150 (also once the sheild has been collapsed it cant come back up again as a price for it being stronger than the normal jackel sheild cant be -blam!- to write any more so yeah good or bad

I think if the games campaign is spread out along the entire course of the book, as the Spartans did not get their Mjolnir armour to accomodate the energy sheilds until the final stage of the project.
So yes, I agree, although at some point over the games course they would presumerably become redundant.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Halo:CE e3 trailer

If you click the link you will see a massive amount of things removed before halo:CE was released, One of those things is at 6:47 in the video and it is an energy shield that activates with the energy sword.

It's been thought about but removed.
