Subject: Do you think we should be able to pick up jackal shields in reach?

I think it's only logical for a Spartan to use the jackal's energy shield. Afterall, Spartans are master of any weapon and pilot of any vehicle.
It would make the most sense in my mind if the shield was used just as any other duel-wieldable weapon. You pick it up on one side or the other and pull the trigger to activate it. when it's not being used the shield would remain contracted and at the player's side. When being used (when the trigger is pulled) the shield would be deployed and brought to bear in front of the player, protecting most of his/her front upper body, and if he/she crouched it would cover almost all of the front of the body. When using the shield, you could also use any other duel-wieldable weapon, although you would have to look through the bright color of the energy shield probably decreasing accuracy.
As far as how the shield would work energy wise, I figure it would have a meter just like the energy shields that protect a spartan's or elite's body. When the shield is shot it would become weaker until it eventually busted. It would need time to recharge and be able to deploy again. It seems simple and plausible enough to me.
The shield would allow for more succesful charges in order to close distances with an opponent, and it would allow for more co-op oppurtunities where one player could crouch with the shield out shooting with a small weapon while another popped up from behind him and the protection provided to fire a more powerful two-handed weapon.

Also, as a side note, I think it would be cool to be able to duel-wield a sword with shield for gladiator style combat. I just figure to balance this the lunge ability would be taken away while the shield is active, but the player could still make simple slash attacks. Also there would be a second or so pause after the shield is put down until the player could lunge.

So what do you think?

And I forgot, if someone were to pick up two energy shields at once, only one could be used at a time.
Also, if the player were to try and switch back and forth between the shields there would be a slight pause between the contraction of the first shield and the deployment of the second, allowing for the player to be shot down or at least injured.

Yes because if it was me. I would want cover when i'm reloading but it should would be like a bracelet so if you reloading a smg,ar or br you could crouch hold out your arm and reload but you should reload slower because you only have 1 hand because the other is in front of you and if you have an energy sword you should be able to use as a shield and crouch up to a sniper then kill him and it should be like a deployable cover but lets say it has 100 charges in it. It could recharge but it will take 20 seconds for the shield to recharge and every time it recharges it will drain 10of its 100 charges so it'll be like an energy sword but instead of kill you have shields.

Hells yeah! It would be cool to use it the same way you use the bubble shield or other equipment. Or as has already been suggested, works as a dual wieldable weapon.

Why should we? Spartan shields are fifty times stronger than those little sunflowers.

that would be awsome it would be cooler if we could throw them like sharp metal disks
but it would also be cool if you could pick up anything laying around too, (a brick perhaps?)

So... it would mean that the shield would take the damage until it overloads and the you still have your full charged suit shield.

No they are not. Read the books and play on legendary.

MC's shield will break before the Jackal variation on Legendary.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

If it worked similar to Rainbow Six Vegas 2's riot shield then I'm all for it.
