Many people are happy that Elites will be the major enemy in Halo Reach. Elites are more interesting to fight than brutes because they dodge and react more to what you do. Brutes don't jump out of the way if a plasma grenade lands at their feet, they just brace for impact. Thats basically the same for when you try to splatter them. Elites are much more acrobatic, they do back flips and rolls to avoid attacks. Now where am I going with all of this you ask?...
My theory is that Brutes act more stationary than the Elites because of the plasma pistol. In Halo 2 if the plasma pistol was charged up it would practically follow its target. The Brutes in Halo 2 dodged more however they weren't affected by the plasma pistol because they didn't have energy shields or power armor. Now in Halo 3 the Brutes have energy shields and power armor and are affected by the plasma pistol. In Halo 3 the plasma pistol was changed so that it doesn't track it's target nearly as well, because in Halo 2 multiplayer the plasma pistol was so effective and easy to use. If the Brutes dodged good it would be incredibly difficult to hit them with the charged plasma pistol.
So with the Elites returning in Halo Reach how will the plasma pistol act? I definitely want the Elites to dodge, but the plasma pistol shouldn't be to easy to use seeing as it fully takes down the enemies shields. So either the plasma pistol tracks better than in Halo 3, but is a little overpowered in multiplayer. Or the plasma pistol tracks really well in campaign, but not very well in Multiplayer. What do you think about my theory on why Brutes barely dodge? What are your opinions and thoughts on how the plasma pistol should act in Halo Reach?
