If there's one thing that every Halo game has been lacking when it comes to the multiplayer department, it has to be AI Bots. Simply put, they allow friends to get together and play whatever they want, against whoever they want, in a completely lag-free environment. Some of my greatest multiplayer memories are from days when I and perhaps one friend would sit down and play a bit of Nightfire, or TimeSplitters 2, and have a good old laugh as we fought against the computer.

So, B.net, do you want the option to use AI Bots in Halo: Reach?

Steven

I know this isnt GOW but epic did a smart thing by adding bots to their game. When a player quits, they should be replaced by a bot. Even if the bots are dumb, atleast they distract the other team. Evens up the game a little bit. Especially in nonslayer gametypes. Having bots in non matchmaking games should also be an option. I mean, why not.

It seems like bungie is getting closer to incorporating such an idea. I mean, they knew the fans wanted firefight and they finally gave into that. Perhaps they will incorporate bots aswell. I mean, i think of all the things that a triple A next gen fps should have, and this is definately on the list.

I'm not sure how the community would respond to Bots in MM, but as long as they're an option (obviously that would be the case in Custom Games), I can't see why anybody would mind their existence.

Check out my file share for cool maps

I think its easily possible. In forge you can use AI paths to even "tell" them where to go. AI paths are something I learned modding Star Wars battlefront 2. In Halo, you could maybe use respawn-type things to mark an "objective". You could place it down, and have options like: Pick up nearest weapon, use nearest vehicle, crouch down for # of seconds, snipe, put down a trip mine, secure area, gaurd area, or use it to help guide the bot to a certain spot. Kind of like connect the dots to a spot. Then in the game mode you could pick how many bots, their species and rank. Online they should replace a quitter. Just to distract the other team. In singleplayer, though, it would be sweet in custom games to be playing with 2 of your freinds and have a huge battle on your map. Thats what I would basicly get the game for. BOTS!

If you are going to try and make a copy/repeat idea of my thread, at least don't do it so that it is the thread right above mine.

For those who want to see the "full version" of what an A.I. opponenet MIGHT look like, check out my thread on Customizable A.I.s.

Its because Bungie realize that Bots would either be bloody terrible and shouldn't really be much of a challenge for very long, or super overpowered, the kind that always shoots you in the head with a sniper rifle the moment you put your head out and knows where you are at all times.

Halo doesn't need bots.
