Subject: Should we see what John 117 face looks like in Halo Reach?

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Not directly. Perhaps a shot from behind in which we see the back of his head or even a little of the front of his head. Then, of course, he would put on his helmet, and that would be all.

What spectagon are you in?

No.

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

Those of you who want to see his face are missing the point, in my opinion: you have already seen Master Chief's face. He's got no distinct personality, no distinct feelings, no distinct emotion. He just executes orders, drops bad guys, saves the world. He feels some generic emotion, such as displayed towards Cortana, but you know he's ready to do what he has to do in the light of any event, and his feelings never transcend his actions or outshine them.

Master Chief's face, whatever anyone may envision it as, is not his person, it is not his personality. All you need to know about the Master Chief, almost all you truly can know about the Master Chief, is embodied in his arms and legs, his firearms, and his evident steely resolve. Master Chief doesn't need some angry scowl like Marcus Fenix. He doesn't need to launch into a moral discussion about why he does what he does like Solid Snake. And he doesn't need to laugh whilst he slaughters like Mario. He just destroys the enemy and moves on, knowing what he has to do and doing it. Unlike so many other symbolic figures (both real and fictional), his face is not the epicenter of his mass or his being.

Realize that, my young Padawans, and you will see the truth about the Chief. Then you will know no need to place eyes upon his physical face, for you shall understand that you have already seen his true face, and been his true face, a million times.

Underwater Eagle.

No, I don't ever want to see what he looks like, ever. I think that would ruin the character.

The whole point of not seeing his face is so that the player can identify with him more. We will never, ever see his face, just like the Marathon Cyborg, just like the Rookie, and just like any of Bungie's future heroes.

Agreed 100%. I liked in Halo 3's Arrival cutscene that you could see his skull though. That's as close to his face that I'd ever like to see.
