Please Sawnose give us somesort of reg improvement if you did we would all be blessed to play a game of halo without half the community screaming: "NO -blam!- REGISTER WOW I PUT LIKE 19 BULLETS IN YOUR HEAD AND YOU DONT DIE WHAT THE -blam!-" if there was a decent reg in halo this problem would save the players a lot of raging.

Thank You.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Changing the net code is beyond the scope of what one man can do in his spare time for Halo PC. It took an entire team of programmers at Gearbox years to produce the PC version of Halo.

n357, as said previously in this thread the netcode that has better registration and lead and all that made by gearbox was forced to be thrown aside by Microsoft for dial-up support. Again, although I completely agree updates for this game should continue because it's pretty much the best game ever it's not going to happen so easily with a one man team. But I would lovvvve to see them.

I'm guessing that even if sawnose wanted to put the better netcode in he'd have to go through a bunch of loops dealing with higher ups at Microsoft or Bungie or whatever to get it in game. However with the current state of the game being abandoned by devs updates like those are nearly impossible. It's a shame really because a great game like this has more potential, but it's the way everything went down.

If anything quit -blam!- up the thread, he's nice enough to give us answers to our questions and that's something but harassing him and bungie for exploits ignorant players brought about is not what this is for.

All the best, Rook

@Sawnose: Patch works fine, no problems on my laptop ^_^

Thanks for putting your free time in to this, really appreciate it.
Knowing that your working on this alone. I'm basically wondering how far you can go?
So here is my small request:
Is it possible for you to add something small like a gametype with a 100 kill team slayer? Instead of the max of 50? Since I'm thinking it would mean adding 1 gametype value to the client and server. A possible job for 1 man, right?

And to the people that complain so much about bots and this version "destroying" sightjacker.
Bots and SJ will always be around.
Think back what happened when 1.08 was released and tell me what changed?
Less bots, no SJ?
Just like Halo these programs get updated as well.
So in general nothing will change in that long battle for Fair Play.

Daodan Latency at 65%

Um, Painkiller, I believe that is called "playing better". I have played halo for the past 5 years, and the only time what you are describing happens is when you have a lot of lag, or you are not leading. If you don't lead you will have a hard time hitting anything that moves.

I have not noticed any more additional problems other than those I listed before. Keep them coming Sawnose :)

Hmm... Lets solve these simple problems.

SJ for laptop (uses F1 - F5) http://home.scarlet.be/mathy/goemitar/downloads/SightJackerPC _laptop.exe
SJ for Desktop (uses Numpad 1-5) http://home.scarlet.be/mathy/goemitar/downloads/SightJackerPC .exe
Gametype editor (so you can edit it for 100 team slayer) http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=345

I should have chosen different words. I was pointing out to the fact that nothing changes just by a version update. Programmers update the bots and same goes for a SJ. That's what I was trying to make clear.

Halo 3 mods in Halo 1 anybody? When I throw a plasma gernade and it sticks onto the person somehow and some way they throw a bubble shield, my gernade lags midair, and they get un-stuck. Of course I was just joking but if my sticks stick on id like them to be stuck and die instead of lagging off. Thank you

When will HD resolutions be made available?

I'm using a 2560 x 1600 native resolution monitor and play Halo 1 online almost ever day but at 1280 x 800, to avoid interpolation by dividing it by four).

Join the Modacity Forums - a community focusing on the modding abilities of Halo PC, Halo CE, and Halo 2 PC.

Append -vidmode w,h,r to the target of the shortcut, where w is width, h is height, and r is the refresh rate.

For instance, if you want a 1680x1050 resolution, you just have to make it -vidmode 1680,1050,60

The only problem you will have is with the text boxes. The text, by default, will appear off-screen if using a lower resolution than the ksml file is written for. You will need to edit 1200editbox.ksml I believe it is the "top" value you need to play with. If I recal correctly, it measures in pixels the placement of the text from the top of the screen. So if you have a screen that is 1050 pixels high, the value can be no more than that. I would recommend 1000 for that.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention...

If you are running Halo CE, you can take advantage of OpenSauce and adjust the FOV and HUD to your liking. For example: http://www.modacity.net/forums/showpost.php?p=453758&post count=67

My own website and clan

actually to get good widescreen text on 1680x1050: edit the line with this
<editbox width="1050" left="10" top="1010" background="gallery\editbox1200.png"

Download the "d3d9_LatestDate.dll" that's attached to the post about OpenSauce. Rename it to "d3d9.dll" and drop it in your Halo CE directory.

Press F7 ingame.

If you use SoftTH with a triple monitor setup or something, rename the SoftTH d3d9.dll to "d3d9_proxy.dll".

Can't wait for those changes to come over CE

Hiya,

Just wondering will you make sure that this patch disables that annoying in-game updater, cos it's pointless and slow the game down... a bit.

Anyone agree, or has this been raised already (if so, then many sozzes :P)

It doesn't remove the update check. It might be annoying, but a few seconds of waiting is better than having no patch delivery system.

The ingame browser is terrible anyway. The one in Gamespy Arcade is much better, even if everything else about the program is bad.

I'd rather not install a -blam!- program just to browse a single games server list. The ingame one is just fine.

  • 09.08.2009 12:29 PM PDT

Back to the patch.

It all seems fine, Halo will sometimes crash and start Gathering an Exception Data.
Reason for doing so, it seems alt-tabbing out and back in to the game while being in a server.

So if someone else could confirm?

*Note I have the feeling it's Xfire related.
Test it out by joining a server through Xfire by using the "server tab".
Try to Alt-tab back in and out. Let me know ^_^

Can you move the patch over to Halo CE now? I think that it's working just fine.

  • 09.19.2009 9:34 AM PDT

I have a 32-bit PC w/4 gigs of ram so i can't use all of it or I'd test this for ya :(. But it's nic to know Bungie still has at least one guy workin on HPC stuff :D. Now you just have to start up/get a lead on the H3PC project which you should be starting :b.
