Subject: Forerunners. Will they ever be seen.

I miss playing Halo with my friends.

I think that the Forerunners are humanity's descendents; that is, archaic H. sapiens evolved into the subspecies Forerunner (away from Earth, and under the influence of the Precursors' evolutionary acceleration technology).

They encounter the Flood and build the Rings and Ark. Few Forerunner manage to make it to the Ark, and the others are exterminated. The few survivors in the Ark mate with the archaic H. sapiens taken to the Ark from Earth, exterminating the full blooded Forerunner race and creating a new sub-species...

H. sapiens sapiens. Modern humans. Reclaimers.

Oh ok. Now it makes since when 343 Guilty Spark was saying that to the chief on the last level of Halo 3.

Will Bungie, ever care to show us how the Forerunner's look, and what is their connection with humans. I think Bungie should make a game on how the Forerunners look and how they died or went extinct for over Eons because they failed to escape the Flood and ultimatly had to activat the HOLY Rings, and even how humans have the power to activate their technology.

Don't you people(ALL WHO READS THIS THREAD) think they should show the Forerunners?

Technically they do show the forerunners, we're the forerunners. 343 Guilty Spark even says so right before you kill him and activate the ring in halo 3.

Actually no, 343 was rampant, anyways the forerunners picked the humans to be their sucessors, but are not in any way genetically related to the humans. There is a new Halo book trilogy coming out that is all about the forerunners, so wait til then.

Where is your source? I'm pretty sure Forerunners are ancestors of humans, another reason why the technology seems so familiar to the humans (according to the books, there are numerous references to it in them). I do know about the forerunner books coming out, but since no one knows about any the plot details yet, I'm basing what I say on information what we already know from the games/books.

I agree with aaronde. Since the Forerunner trilogy has yet to come out or give any clue towards the forerunner question, all of our assumptions have to be based off what we know already from the bits and pieces dropped by Guilty Spark, Cortana and Gravemind and the info out of the books. The tech piece that aaronde I also feel is true, mainly because the "hand" on the control panels resembles a human hand, one thumb and four fingers, more so than any other character like elites, with two thumbs and two fingers, and prophets, one thumb two/three fingers.

Re-live Marathon:Durandal. Get it today for 800 Microsoft points on the marketplace.

Lol if they are bringing back the Forerunners hopefully Paul Russel is involved, he gave birth to the forerunner architecture in Halo CE =)

I personally prefer if we were never shown what they were like.

It keeps it a mystery, and lets our imagination run.
Sort of like how we never see the Chief's face, and we can only imagine and assume.

Don't you people(ALL WHO READS THIS THREAD) think they should show the Forerunners?

for starters WE the humans are the Forerunners so they look like us. Second if you read the terminals in H3 you learn how they lost and died to the flood and how they eventually had to use the rings to stop them from spreading. Buy killing ALL the sentian beings in the galaxy including themselves they stopped the flood from growing and eventually killed them. Last of all the humans can activate there tech because like i said WE ARE THEM so there stuff works 4 us duh

yea.. it would be sweet...but! mr.OP if you read any of the halo books you would know humans are forerunners.

They are writing a trilogy of novels set 100,000 years ago when the Forerunner were the dominant species in the Galaxy.

Cool, I can't wait for those novels!

Whenever Bungie is finally through with the Halo series, I'd like to see a Forerunner game. Based on the Forerunner/Flood war. Get to use their weaponry and vehicles and armour. Have all new characters and story. Although I'm sure 343 Guilty Spark could make an appearance.

Imagine, a war even more advanced then Halo!

You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

Well, there is a trilogy of books coming out, when? I don't know. This trilogy will solely feature the forerunners. So we should be able to get the info about the Forerunners we're craving for, but we won't SEE them. This game idea would be interesting... but very hard to pull off the right way.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Played Halo 3? We essentially have. Humans are the 2553 equivalent of the Forerunners.

In my opinion I hope they do not show the Forerunners or release giant chunks of information about them. I like the whole mysterious veil that the Halo games created on the subject of the Forerunners, and how to understand about what precious information is avaliable on them you need to pay close attention to certain details and read between the lines when neccessary.

To spill the secrets would deface all the imaginative thinking that lead each individual player to their own conclusions about the Forerunners and what happened all those eons ago.

But that's just my view.

You, sir win this thread.

"The predecessors of the Forerunner are thought to be another alien race known as the Precursors. The alien faction known as the Covenant worshipped the Forerunners as gods, deriving much of their technology from Forerunner artifacts found throughout the galaxy."

Never knew that and yeah I kind of do want to know more about them and what they look like.

not in any way genetically related to the humans.

no offence, but you sound really stupid saying that, as humans and goldfish are over 99% genetically related

  • 08.20.2009 6:37 PM PDT

Why goldfish?

I think we need to analyze the word "Reclaimer", which is what the Forerunner call the Humans.

What are we Reclaiming? Figure that out.
