Hello guys i was reading the interwebz when i came across this.

Microsoft has told G4TV that Halo 2 players are the reason the Xbox Live Friends List is capped at 100.

Advertisement:
Original Xbox titles were coded for a 100-player Friends List only, and with Halo 2 still being a prominent name online, it's holding Microsoft back from unleashing a larger Friends List on Xbox Live.

The solution? Microsoft could shut down the Halo 2 servers after Halo 3: ODST's release, as they figure this will leave 360 owners with two Halo games to play (Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST). Yet we can't help but feel some of the hardcore Halo players will be a little put out by this news.

Would you rather Halo 2 lived on or that you had a larger Friends List?

Just asking what do you think is the better option. Personally i still like playing halo 2. Sec i clocked over 7000+ games on there.
It would be sad to see it go.

Thoughts?

100 people is plenty for me.

Halo 2 is just too awsome to shut down.

Show a source link, won't you?

"I recken you don't come around these parts?"

well if halo 2 did that, I suspect another game might come along and do it again, don't you?

Well Halo 2 is a huge success for Microsoft and that, in my opinion, has earned them the right to stay on Xbox Live. Besides if people still want to play the game than who has the right to take that away from them and why?

NO. Don't shut Halo 2 down, it's the second most awesome game in the series (ODST slightly beat it). I still play that game every chance I get. If they shut it down I will PERMANENTLY lose all support for Microsoft.

You don't need more than a hundred friends. I would dare to cap it at twenty five and charge a slightly larger fee to extend it to fifty.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Let it get to its billionth game then shut it down, even tho im fine with my friends list.

I don't play H2 much since H3 came out but a lot of people still don't have Xbox 360s and even I like to go relive the memories of those maps. if they killed it I'd be pissed.

Shouldn't this be in the Halo 2 forum? Also, i'd probably say leave it up as nobody really needs more than 100 friends online.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

There are still plenty of people out there who still play Halo 2 because they love the game, I know I go back to enjoy an occasional game. Then there are those who can not afford a 360, should we shut down their game because we don't now how to clean a friends list?

Honestly... that's all it really is. People (myself included) have 100 friends because they don't clean the list often enough. I get too many random friend requests that take up space occasionaly, but I deny those whenever I get the chance.

Just clean your list more often people. My rule is, if I invite them to a game of Halo 3 and I don't know what to say to them, they're off the friends list.

Leave Halo 2 be. I only add people I'm friends with in real life anyways.
