This is not another "create your own vehicle for Reach" thread like you are used to seeing.
What Im suggesting here is something for customs, and possibly good to great creations can be implemented into Matchmaking (just as with map variants created with Forge).
The Custom Cruiser Store ~Name is, well, a work-in-progress...
In Customs Menu this would be an option right next to Gametype, Map, etc..
First:
You select your base vehicle you want to edit.
Land Vehicle - Gunner
Land Vehicle - Transport
Both
Air Vehicle - Gunner
Air Vehicle - Transport
Both
Water Vehicle - Gunner
Water Vehicle - Transport
Both
Once you've selected your base type vehicle you want to begin building you then move on to other options:
Gun:
Type of gun - Human (machine gun/gauss/fire/explosive/etc)
- Alien/Brute (alien/brute rounds)
Mounted Location: - front/back/side
- Ability to turn (gyro)
Speed of fire/Power: - Very fast/low power, Moderate speed/moderate power.. you get it..
Next you move on to engine type:
Fast engine (only for use with smaller vehicles)
Slow engine (can use on either and slower engines allow for longer lifetime)
Number of axles/wheels if human/brute; height capabilities if alien/brute/human:
2 axles; small (mongoose)
2 axles; medium (warthog)
Etc..
Maneuverability:
Ability to barrel roll (banshee)
Ability to slide (warthog)
Ability to reverse
Passengers:
Ability to hold passengers/not
How many
And so on...
Im suggesting setting up a "store-like" menu where you have a pool of "money lets say," where every option you choose, reduces from the pool so you cant overload a vehicle with super fast engine, awesome weapon speed and power, etc.. Everything would be in check so that if you select lets say, the Large Land Vehicle, you can not also select the fastest engine.
Everything would be based off pre-determined options that Bungie has set up, so that there can be a lot of different combinations for people to use in Customs but they are all variations that have been tested by Bungie's studio for performance purposes.
This could also work with the gun creation idea, where all things are in check and based off of a certain "type" of gun: short ranged model/mid-ranged/long ranged. Then, if short, type of shot: powerful close, beatdown weapon, etc..
Just an idea as to a direction the customs could go in Halo: Reach.
