Most of us know that Project Orion is the predecessor of the Spartan-II program, in essence they were Spartan-I's, spartans without the armor. Most of us know about Project Orion because Sergeant Johnson was in it. Now all sorts of theories have been thrown out about who is in the banner. Perhaps they are Spartan-I's. Yeah they weren't in Fall of Reach or First Strike, but its Bungie's game and they can do whatever their heart's desire with it. In the banner theyt all look to be to small to be Spartan-II's, all except for the one on the left and MAYBE the middle one.

Again, maybe they are some of the Spartan-I's that didn't go insane or have tremendous physical problems. Granted they would all be in their mid sixties or somewhere around there, but sergeant johnson seems just as capable, just an idea.

But this is all based upon that i may know what i'm talking about, but i've been wrong from time to time so if anyone has any corrections please do so

Maybe. It is an interesting thought.

No, there were even less Spartan Is than there were Spartan IIs. Most certainly not 200+, as indicated by one of the characters in the teaser.

Reasons why the Spartans in the banner are not "Spartan-Is":

-Participants in Project ORION didn't have powered battlesuits. The first usable form-fitting powered battle armour was the MJOLNIR Mark IV, which was first given to the Spartan II supersoldiers. Only the specific augmentations bestowed upon the Spartan IIs allowed them to use the armour; it was lethal for anyone else to attempt to interface with it. If the Spartans in the banner are wearing MJOLNIR armour, they are not ORION participants.

-The two Spartans who speak in the trailer identify themselves as Spartans, via the Sierra-plus-callsign (S-xxx) convention, like the Master Chief did in Halo 3. There is no evidence that ORION participants were ever actually called Spartans. "Spartan-I" is a fan-made appellation, to the best of my knowledge.

-Johnson, a fit survivor of ORION, was at Alpha Halo only two weeks after the fall of Reach, functioning as a normal marine and fitting right in amongst their ranks. It's hard to believe he made the transition from special operations supersoldier to rank-and-file trooper in such a short period of time.

I can see where you reasoning comes from but the "Spartans" in the banner don't seem to even have the known profile for a spartan, except for the one on the left. The rest look like they just have normal combat armor.

I admit i have no rebutle for the "Spartans" referring to themselves as Sierra and Spartan-I is a fan made name

I never said/implied that Johnson was at Reach, i was mearly giving him as a reference, stating that he is in fact as you said a fit survivor, and just as capable as any Spartan, because in earlier games he is, for lack of a better term, a beast. And i remeber reading somewhere that Johnson was chosen early in his military career for Project Orion, and Contact Harvest is only about 4 or 5 years from when he joined the marines, and there is thirty years, more or less, from Harvest to Reach, plenty of time for johnson to resign as a "Spec. Ops." and re-join the regular rank-and-file.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Wait, how can you tell that they are too small to be Spartans? Some Spartans were really small, even if Spartans were bigger then any human, we don't know who is in the banner. The banner could be Spartans, could be humans, but how can we tell? We would need both human and Spartan side by side to tell the difference of height between them.

Those sillhouettes could be 7 feet, or they could be 5 feet. We can not know unless we have a scale, or something to compare it with. Seeing as they are all similar with knee pads, they are probably all the same, meaning, they are either all marines, or all Spartans, or all ODSTs, we don't know. So, with them all being the same, either being a Spartan, ODST, or marine, we can not compare them.

But you can't just say, these may not be Spartans because they aren't big enough, because you don't know their size, you need a scale or a comparison to know.

Yeah no one can really tell how big they are without a scale. I guess i should have worded it better. I guess i should say they don't seem to have the right build, they don't seem to be bulky enough, Remember that the Mark V armor worn during the battle for Reach was quite bulky compared to the Mark VI. The only one that seems to be close enough is the one on left but this is how i see it. And look at the shoulder pauldrons, they stick up way past the actual shoulder, i seem to remember that the Mark V armor shoulder pauldrons weren't that large, granted the helmet silhouettes look quite similar.

I guess my point is that the "Spartan-I's" never had the armor, but they could have had similar armor, granted not power armor, and they could've been running a "special operation" on Reach...just theories

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

to correct the statements, Johnson was much older than 60 in the MCs time, thereby contradicting th opening statement on johnson. And also, how would you know of the Project ORION armor based permutations, its not impossible that they also had different permutation upgrades, it doesn't require that the suit be form fitting powered battle armour like the MARK IV. However it is NOT impossible this game could be using ORION soldiers trying a MJOLNIR Prototype, like for example, the Cyclops Exoskeleton Prototype.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

1: Project Orion was tested on CIVILIANS, not Military Personel, if you had payed ANY attention to I love bees, you would have known this.

2: Participants in Project Orion do NOT fight in the war, they were discharged after the project.

3: Johnson is NOT a Spartan I, as so many seem to think. They just want him to be so they SAY he is. But he isn't.

Also, the Cyclops was not a form of Mjolnir armor, it went into production long before Mjolnir Mk I did.

A few seconds later Avery's service record appeared on the pad. The lieutenants eyes widended as a long list of meritorious citations and battlefield commendations cascaded down the monochromatic screen. ORION, KALEIDOSCOPE, TANGLEWOOD, TREBUCHET. Dozens of programs and operations, most of which downs had never eve heard of.

2506: Project ORION, the original SPARTAN project - the first attempt by the Colonial Military Administration to create and train teams of super-soldiers for covert military operations in the Outer Colonies - is deactivated. Though the Spartans are effective, their abilities fall short of original expectations, and they are far too expensive to develop and field. The soldiers in the program are reassigned to various special operations units.

"48789-20114-AJ," She said, pulling a COM-pad from her purse and reading from it's screen. "That is your serial number, correct?"

Avery's eyes refocused. "Yes ma'am." Suddenly her smile didn't seem so sweet.

"Team leader, ORION detachment, NavSpecWar division?"

"With respect, ma'am. That's classified."

"I know"
