I wonder if the Halo 3 pistol/smg could be upgraded in the AU to the ODST pistol/smg? That would be sweet.

No It Can't they are using halo 3 engine and they only added a few guns. plus that isn't how halo works from a gameplay point of view.

Hush. If you’re quiet enough, you can hear it on lips of unborn babes.

It means that the Laser is simply overpowered. It has the largest operational range of any weapon in Halo 3, even longer than that of the sniper. It requires virtually no skill to aim at anything other than a Banshee, and it honestly doesn't really need to be in the game, when you consider we have it along with the plasma pistol's overcharge, the power drain, the rocket launcher and the missile pod, all of which require more skill to destroy or incapacitate a vehicle, except for the missile pod. Also consider that there is really nothing a vehicle operator can do when targeted by a laser, while rockets, missiles, power drains, and plasma bursts can easily be avoided at any logical range by a skillful driver.

I just think it would be cool...I know it won't happen but, like several said, game balance shouldn't be an issue w/splaser and all the other weapons, it would just increase the use of pistols and smgs which would be fun...

And that makes the game unbalanced? To me, it just means the person who was unfortunate enough to be on the team that could not gain weapon control who puts himself in a completely vulnerable situation needs to rethink his actions. On a map such as Standoff or Valhalla where each team has an equal opportunity to gain control of the weapon shows balance. This is not a game, like Call of Duty for example, where you spawn with special weapons that others do not have, you fight for what you need to win. How you can say one weapon that is up for grabs is unbalancing, I can say the same for the vehicles that cannot be stopped, but I won't.

I understand where you're coming from, but your entire team shouldn't be punished because the other team sent more people to the Laser than yours did. Whoever is able to get to the center and back should not be rewarded with being able to sit in the back of their base and kill the other teams vehicles or infantry five times in a row with there being no real counter.

The real point is that is makes the game noticibly less fun on the maps you mentioned. High Ground is probably in my top three favorite maps in this game, and Bungie did an excellent job with placing the sniper in a prime location to kill whomever got the laser and stayed on the laser tower to kill your Ghost. And even after that, the way the map is laid out provides enough ways to avoid the laser without it being tood noticable, but on Standoff and Valhalla you'd be hard pressed not to die several times, possibly by the same person.

they defeinately would be able to put them in H3, and i think hey would work on certain maps. Though not to replace their H3 counterparts, but as new weapons in the game and i think they would have to be un-dualwieldable to avoid being overpaowered.

I personally think its a great idea, it would spice up H3 MM for sure
