As far as I can tell, the flood are starved into dormancy as infection forms. If the Covenant had not released them in Halo CE then there would have been no threat on that ring.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Johnson's recovery team mainly responsible for releasing the flood? The Covenant tried to keep the Flood contained, but the UNSC thought they were guarding a stolen weapons cache when it was really much worse.

I know the flood when starved become dormant but they are still living so why did halo not kill them all? if the forerunners created th halos then they made an error as they seem to kill all life except the flood

Creating a ring that would kill all life has some obvious drawbacks don't you think. Considering that the Flood are extra-dimensional creatures, it's possible that the Forerunners couldn't figure out a way to do so other than physical force.

You've got it a little backwards, the Covenant go there first and were trying to contain the Flood, but that is because they released them in the first place. Both the surviving crew of the Autumn and the Covenant thought they were seeking a treasure trove.

Ok can you be more specific when you say extra dimensional i belive the flood where cross galactic I.E they crossed over from another galaxy to ours where the forerunners came across them on a planet called G6147_3b or something like that lol
