I believe ODST has no equipment like Bubble Shields, Regenaters, and Power Drains. The videos I have of ODST the players never had any kind of equipment ever after the killing a brute. So I think Bungie took it out because the most recent add on was the health pack that you need to find if you health/ shield is down after fighting. so its like Halo 1 when you are on your last bar of health and shield you need to find a health pack to get your shield and health back to normal. But this forum is just a therory of my ,so not freak out if it not true. Also please write back about this therory of my and please anwser my poll as well.

I think its ok.

I swear to DRUNK, I'm not GOD!

Bungie has actually confirmed that no equipment will be present in Halo 3: ODST.

And I would argue that to a certain extent, equipment was a little bit of a gimmick in Halo 3. I don't think it really ruined anything, and I certainly don't mind having it in there, but I think that was just Bungie's idea of 'doing something different'.

Also, this thing that you've created here isn't a forum, it's a thread. A forum is a large collection of many threads. This subject you've created is a thread, and it is a thread in the Halo 3: ODST forum.

Most of the Equipment is MJOLNIR related. Power drain, drains shields (ODST has no Shields) Regen, Regenerates shields (ODST have no shields)

"Momma didn't raise no fool."

Remember how big the equipment is for a Spartan? Where do they store it, anyway..? But, I don't think equipment should be included because they usually only help if you have shields.

I think taking out the equipment in ODST was a good idea. It's not like there is a multiplayer mode to make people mad by camping in a bubble shield with shotty.

That's not entirely true, during the E3 demo one of the Brutes threw a Bubble Shield.

Edit: Here you go, skip to 4:30 and there Brute throws a Shield.

I don't think it puts more strategy, but I think it's better. ODSTs aren't trained with the knowledge to use equipment, so it makes sense. Besides, I never use equipment anyway.

i do remember seeing a bubble shield in one of the videos

but i can see why they wouldn't have the power drains or regens due to the lack of shields the ODST have.

Yea yea yea! Tactics and teamwork will get you through any scenario, real or ficticious. I mean, honestly the only good tactical game out now is Vegas 2, and it doesn't really hold my attention. Its Halo's turn to rev the engine now ;D I'm pumped up for this, can't wait for Firefight.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

Yep. Same with the BR.

  • 08.21.2009 10:36 PM PDT

i think its tight, it makes the game simple like halo 2

Yeah, but the ODST didn't use it, it was probably a brute.

  • 08.21.2009 10:42 PM PDT

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

Half of it's useless now anyway. You have no shields so the shield regenerators is useless now. You don't have radar so the radar jammer is useless now(to both you and the enemy). Lets just be glad the flare is gone.

That just leaves the trip mine, the deployable cover, the grav lift and the bubble shield. There doesnt seem to be many vehicles in ODST, grenades should suffice. The grav lift was hardly in even in Halo 3's campaign and ODST seems to be less platforming happy than any Halo yet.

So I guess the deployable cover and bubble shield would have come in handy, but I certianly don't think they alond are enough to make equipment something to be missed. They were far less important in campaign than they are in multiplayer. And ODST seems more about trying to challenge the players and make them choose their battle more wisely.

I'm glad. Equipment ruins Halo 3 for me.

  • 08.21.2009 10:54 PM PDT

There Is Equipment In The Game But The ODST Cannot Use It In Halo 3: ODST, Only Brutes Can Use It.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Yes. When I play Halo 3: ODST, I want to feel like an ODST. Taking away equipment is great because I don't have a quick way to cover myself if I make a mistake.

  • 08.21.2009 11:37 PM PDT

Hey Bob, what are those things jumping across the rooftops like majestic warriors dressed as Spartans with their heads on fire?

Oh, that's just the Bungie ninjas. Mess with them and they'll bring a hammer down on your head that's so big, they have to keep it on Jupiter 'cause it won't fit on Earth.

Ok, you tell me how you're supposed to activate your VISR if there was no equipment.
Right Stick=zoom
Left Stick=crouch
B=meele
A=jump
X=VISR
Y=switch weapons
Right Bumper=swap weapons on ground/enter vehicles
Left Bumper=switch grenades
Left Trigger=throw grenades
Right Trigger=Shoot
Not really anything else you're going to use besides the D-Pad or Back Button. But I'm not ready to take my thump off of my dodging stick in the middle of a fight to turn on VISR or throw equipment. I'd rather keep my VISR considering like 70% of the game is during night.

  • 08.22.2009 12:25 AM PDT

-I was here

equipment is to cheap. its more fun to sneak around the enemy vehicles and ambush em with rockets than to throw mines and energy drains at em and spray the driver with a smg.

  • 08.22.2009 12:35 AM PDT

You're right, it does add more "stagery" to the game.
;)

But honestly, I've wanted a nightvision device since I first used the Sniper Rifle on Truth and Reconciliation, in Halo CE.

So, in a way... I'm glad there's no equipment to be used in ODST.

I don't think that's the reason why they took it out, though.
