Subject: Was it Smart of Bungie for taking equipment out of Halo 3 ODST?

I'm not against the idea. I mean ODST is going in an entirely different direction so it makes sense. Also, I've never seen a marine use equipment in Halo 3 campaign so that makes sense.

They replaced equipment by the night-vision mode. More balance I think, I don't really care.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

Most of the Equipment is MJOLNIR related. Power drain, drains shields (ODST has no Shields) Regen, Regenerates shields (ODST have no shields)
The Regenerator heals your Health as a Spartan too actually.

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

equitment is in the game, but as an odst, you cant use them, only brutes can.

"Gaming is having a ridiculously huge TV in a tiny one room apartment. It's staying up until 3 a.m. to win a trophy that isn't real...but is. And though we may pledge fanboy allegiances to different flags, deep down inside, we all serve one master, one king, and his name is gaming! Forever may he reign!"

i would rather have visr mode then equipment! this is a new game after all.

My troll sense is tingling.

I like it, makes your enemies all that more intimidating.

Equipment would be pointless because ODSTs lack energy shielding, therefore half of the equipment doesn't work. Also, because we are just ODSTs, trip-mines would be more powerful than it was in Halo 3, and we would get slaughtered by it. Also, the the whole point of the VISR was because there was no equipment in the game. So would you rather have an over-powered mine that will probably kill you as easily as enemies, or pointless Regens and Power Drains, over a fully-detailed, labelled map that prevents you from getting lost in the city and allows you to strategise ways of beating opponents?

That's why your "forum" is pointless.

yes, i hated equipment

double kill, triple kill, over-NOOOO

someone threw a bubble sheild

  • 08.22.2009 6:13 AM PDT

You have the VISR and a map as equipment. And also the enemys can use it.

I think it's kinda silly to remove something because some people simply don't like it or care for it. But I think the equipment will be in it away, what they should do is offer some matchmaking that has no equipment in any of its matches. This way they appease both sides without removing the equipment from the campaign, just my 2 cents on the subject.

Success is just going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.

the only epuipment i'm really going to miss is the bubble shield. out of all the equipment, it would be the only one of any use to an ODST

  • 08.22.2009 7:52 AM PDT

if you think about it when a brute throws one you can kill the brute in it (like the bubble sheild) and then use it

Bungie has actually confirmed that no equipment will be present in Halo 3: ODST.

That's not entirely true, during the E3 demo one of the Brutes threw a Bubble Shield.

Edit: Here you go, skip to 4:30 and there Brute throws a Shield.

Yeah but ODST`s cannot use equipment

no, they confirmed that the player will not be able to use equipment, but brutes still can. Haven't you seen any of the screenshots?

heres one

I think it's a pretty good trade for the night vision visor, would you rather be wandering in the dark with nothing to see, and equipment, or would you rather have no equipment, and be able to see where your going.

It's on a lot of community maps. Affinity, Think Twice, Abridged...

I meant good maps

Ok, you tell me how you're supposed to activate your VISR if there was no equipment.
Right Stick=zoom
Left Stick=crouch
B=meele
A=jump
X=VISR
Y=switch weapons
Right Bumper=swap weapons on ground/enter vehicles
Left Bumper=switch grenades
Left Trigger=throw grenades
Right Trigger=Shoot
Not really anything else you're going to use besides the D-Pad or Back Button. But I'm not ready to take my thump off of my dodging stick in the middle of a fight to turn on VISR or throw equipment. I'd rather keep my VISR considering like 70% of the game is during night.

The back button controls your map.

there is a bubble shield! i saw a pic of a brute captain in the bubble shield and the rookie stuck him on the arm!!!

  • 08.22.2009 8:10 AM PDT

Covenant can use them, ODSTs can't, they have VISR mode instead.
