Subject: How will we get the Reach Beta?

Hey Bob, what are those things jumping across the rooftops like majestic warriors dressed as Spartans with their heads on fire?

Oh, that's just the Bungie ninjas. Mess with them and they'll bring a hammer down on your head that's so big, they have to keep it on Jupiter 'cause it won't fit on Earth.

Ok, we know Reach is running a whole new engine. What I want to know is how we will get that engine. Will the engine ship with ODST then we download the game? Like having the Unreal Engine on your comp but then installing Gears of War or w/e. I'm sure that's not how the Unreal Engine works, but you get my point. So, I want to know if it is already on the disc, and if it will take up space when I install it. Or a rough, ROUGH, estimate on how big the Reach Beta will be so I can decide on what to delete now instead of doing it when it comes out. I like to be prepared :)

I know, but I want to know literally HOW we get the Beta. It's not like unlocking a button creates new textures, maps, models, and millions of lines of code, out of thin air.

I think you either download it from Xbox LIVE after it goes live from the main menu, or it is simply on the game disc itself.

I'm afraid if it's on the disc. I don't what to know how much space two engines together take up. My poor 60GB HD might just cry...

You download it via the Extras menu. Similar to crackdown. You load the game up, select "Download Halo Reach Beta", it downloads, once it's downloaded you can play it via the ODST disc.

Not to worry. It will probably be a separate save file, kind of like the Halo 3 Beta.
So it shouldn't take up too much space.

It is, after all, a Beta and not another full game on your HDD. =)
Hope this helps.

For the record, the Halo 3 Beta, which contained Valhalla, Snowbound and High Ground, was just under 1GB in size.

When you think about it, the beta is basically multiplayer game demo, which is 1 or 2 GB max. If it is on the disc (most likely will be, just like Halo 3/Crackdown), ODST could only take up 7 or 8 GB max as well. I think 360 CD's are maxed at 9 or 10 GB, could be wrong though.
