Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

No. And I haven't even read the book.

I wish I was still legendary.

Not that we know of, but we saw only a tiny bit of Reach. I'd be suprised if they weren't in there in one way or another, whether just a few of the flood storage rooms like on lockout or a full-blown underground infestation somewhere.

so there is a HUGE installation on that planet humans colonized and that became their stronghold and military spaceport.
but they never saw it, there was a tree hiding it.

the only way I can think of adding the floods is by having a covenant campaign somehow.
there wasn't any floods on reach, and it'd be surprising to even hear their name.

  • 08.22.2009 5:12 PM PDT

No. They made a point that on Halo CE was the first time any humans saw the flood.

To be fair, they never found the forerunner artefact buried right under their feet, or the giant antechamber holding it....and those were right next to Castle Base.

The flood are unlikely to be there, it's true. But even in the single forerunner building on Reach we HAVE seen, we haven't seen the entire place, been told why there was a crystal there and nothing else, or why the room was sealed with that epic door that needed human DNA to open.

to be honest I don't remember First Strike at all..... so I guess you make a point.
glad to see we agree that floods are very unlikely to be fought though.

I hate the flood. Bungie loves the flood. Of course there will be flood in this game.

yep. For good reason.

On topic: They would be interesting though. probably no human forms...no pure forms either. Just infected Covenant.

There is a certain point of tolerance that should never be reached.

I was thinking Reach may be a shield world.
I am pretty sure there are multiple places that lead to the same place where people at the end of GoO ended up. Then again, Reach could be just Reach.

I can't think of how Bungie is going to do an entire campaign with just one battle.
I am thinking there is more.

I've noticed with their books, most of the names are the underlining of the thing the plot revolves around. Ghosts of Onyx was about the forerunner on Onyx, at least their technology was. In Fall of Reach, Reach wasn't destroyed until the 30 pages. In First Strike, the operation didn't even commence until ... well the last 30 or 40 pages.

It seems to me that there is going to be more to Reach than just Reach, besides, Why would Bungie show us what we already know?

Mark my words, Halo: Reach will change our perspectives of Halo.

I doubt there will be any Flood. Halo CE was supposed to be the first time that the Flood were ever encountered by Humans. I doubt Bungie would ruin their own story considering Ensemble just managed to get away with the Flood in Halo Wars.

Well Arcadia was hollow and had a frigging sun inside it, so it wouldn't really surprise me that much to have a flood storage facility.

The flood are lame. I sure as hell hope not. And you didn't even get to fight gravemind. stupid.

No it wasn't, at least not that we saw. The SoF left the planet before even attempting to look inside the structure.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

When you say "the book" do you mean First Strike? Or Fall of Reach, which shows absolutely no ground combat on Reach (as the trailer hints this game will include when S-259 says Spartans on the ground).

There are no Flood seen on the planet Reach in either of the two novels. This, however, does not rule out Flood appearing. If Bungie goes the route of copy and paste from their novels, which would make for poor gameplay, then there will be no Flood.

If they show us another perspective of the Spartans (17 had no names or numbers), possibly five from Team Beta (the only team which included at least 5 [check the banner] combat-effective Spartans which could have included a -259).
