Putting in this extra disk would allow you to create a map, save it to the hard drive, and when you put Halo Reach in,you would have the map.........Then you can go to the original forge to put vehicles, weapons, and scenary

Do you think bungie should add an extra disc to Halo Reach for a Far Cry 2 styled map editor. If not, please state why.

Also I would like to point out that I said "Far cry 2 Styled map editor ".When I say that,I dont mean exactly like Far cry 2.I know that "Halo Is Halo, and not just any war game like COD4" I just mean a map editor that is similar to far cry 2s map editor, but it would be Halo style.

I know that.I said "Far cry 2 styled".I mean it has the same abilities as the far cry editor, but the same theme as Halo.

i think its a great idea i love map editors and i love halo. making my own maps would be the greatest thing i would -blam!- my pants

Yes. More customization is better. Period.

For anyone that is still saying "this is Halo," I have seen almost EXACT remakes of popular Halo maps on the Farcry 2 editor. Everything from Lockout to Blood Gulch has been made using that thing. So everyone could get all the remakes they want. Not mentioning the millions of original map option this would open up.

Additionally, Bungie would be able to use this map for themselves. Let me explain. Something as indepth as the Farcry 2 editor, would allow for any maps we get as DLC to be made through that editor. This means there could be far less programming involved, and Bungie could theoretically realise DOZENS of new maps for the same price.

Ya agreed.

The Far Cry 2 map editor allowed players to make virtually anything and everything in it. I have seen almost every halo map remade in it, but the problem is that its gameplay is way worse than halo. With a Far Cry map editor and Pocket syndromes customizable enemies idea you could basically make campaign levels.

One good thing that could come out of this is that bungie would'nt have to make more than a few maps that come with the game as long as it included the blank editor map. Players that make amazing maps could get them put into matchmaking and make an almost endless amount of maps that could be played.

I hope bungie considers this.

Yes, please. A Far Cry map creator should be a requirement in all multiplayer games.

I would like something different than a Far Cry 2 map editor. Something like a 3D Little Big Planet map editor. This would not allow for changes to terrain, but you could move buildings. As for the DLC, Bungie could still offer new maps with different terrain layouts, but also, new Game Modes, and/or items in the editor. You could edit objects in real time or pause the action and edit with no interferences. A real sandbox. Working buttons, all that jazz. Along with App L Sawz' ideas on an item editor. Here.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

I'm sad I'm not in the first two replies, so almost nobody will read it, but you do know guys M$ would not allow bungie to do such a thing, right?

I'm not even going to talk about how hard it'd be to make it, nor how complicated the controls would be. I'm just going to look at the biggest problem : M$

Halo is their money cow. they make ton of money out of halo. first, you buy the game. the every map packs or else you cant play online. then, bungie pro (you buy it with MICROSOFT POINTS). etc, you know what I mean.
by taking out their ability to sell map packs, they'd loose too much money. who'd play ranked and pay for maps when you can just create ANYTHING else, or even recreate the maps? just play customs with friends.

don't reply "but their's forge in halo 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". forge is NOT able to let you create a map. you can barely do anything even on sandbox. barely.
there will be forge in reach, but it won't ever ever be able to modify terrain.

I'm not against the idea of a real map editor though. just telling why it'll not happen.

I think Bungie should have their own map editor on a disc, hopefully an improved version of the Far Cry 2 map editor, and with a different name. But yes, a map editor/creator is a must for Halo Reach.

This map editor shouldn't be like the Far Cry 2 map editor in too many ways. All that editor is is a crazy-complex terrain editor that can place plants and stuff. Imagine trying to create a Construct or The Pit type map. It would be near impossible. However, it is really a really powerful map editor. Halo: Reach's map editor should be just as powerful, but also be able to make maps similar to what we've been playing on and making in Forge. I've posted a list of suggested features at least 3 times, some I'm going to post a link.
Here
Just my ideas.

Well, as the OP stated, people have re-made many of Halo Maps, throughout the trilogy, so they could make full maps, it would just be some work, as it is to make any map in forge now.

The far cry editor could just be a base for maps. You could always still go to forge and add scenery.

i think bungie should just come up with there own inventive ideas and stick with what they always come up with witch usually always turn out to be good ideas not steal from other games like most games steal from bungie.

Right, like the Fps wasn't taken from doom, the video game wasn't taken from Pong...

And, grenades and aliens wern't from doom right?

Bungie just bundled all of the good parts of those games, and simplified.

He wasn't a "douche" if you even know what that is...

He was just putting a statement out there, and he was right... This is a Halo game...

Edit* He never said anything bad about the idea, it was what he was going for, but he never truly stated it.

cool idea the only problem that i have with it is that the farcry editor kept screwing up for me.
hey maybe we could add all of the forge ideas being posted because it would be on a separate disk

You know it has to be good when a game has two disks, that means twice the fun...

Lost Oddysey had four, or five...

It would be simpler, if only to not end up being as epic fail as Far Cry 2's. I admit it was impressive but it lacked the detail Halo demands. If you gave players different canvases like Deserts, Forests and Tundra, and then let them change the relief of the terrain, vegetation and then buildings and weapons. Buildings would need to be sections that snap together on doors and archways. Then you would brush it off and Forge it up on the 1st disc?
