Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

There's no such thing as "sniping spots" in HPC. If you're not moving around, you're getting owned.

Or the server's full of noobs.

I myself find the sniper rifle to be a very good first-contact weapon, where you're at medium or long distance - I favour a very aggressive approach to all types of gameplay, and will nearly always attempt to close the distance between me and my objective. This means I tend not to camp in one area for any length of time.

Nevertheless, here is my advice.

When sniping, the best place to be is near the crest of a hill, with the hill between you and your opponent. Ideally, you want to be able to see all of your opponent over the top of the hill, while only letting your opponent see your head and your upper torso.

This means that you can shoot all of your opponent, and your opponent can only hit your head, which is much more difficult. The height means that you've got a good view over the whole area, and so you can shoot at lots of targets.

Good examples of this are in Blood Gulch, where there are many hills and valleys to hide behind. Be aware enemies will do this as well. To defeat enemies who are better shots and using this technique, get around and behind them with teleporters or going through the caves. It's been many times where I've smacked unwary snipers in the back by going through the caves - make sure you're not one of them!
Another good spot in Ice Fields is just behind the ramp leading to the base (the track that goes over the bridge). You can basecamp with your pistol there if you're feeling like being a spawnkiller.

If no ledges are available, cover, health, powerups and ammo in high areas are good spots. The best locations for these are in Danger canyon (the ledge opposite the main area - sniper's ledge) which holds sniper ammo and overshields. A good sniper can stop the enemy team all on their own. I've sniped people out of ghosts and hogs while holding off enemy snipers up there. I've also been on the other side, being shot in the head trying to get out. To beat this spot, either a: rush with vehicles, b: rush with lots of pistol users, c: use a grenade to jump up to the enemy's area and use the tunnel to the rockets to snipe them from the side, or go round and get the sniper rifle, then go back to your base and go all the way around via the bottom, and snipe the enemy in the head from ground level, where they won't expect it. All of these tactics are problematic, because you'll usually only get a couple of shots off before being noticed, and a good player with an overshield will survive the first shot (if you even hit a dodging target) and kill you very fast.

Other places that are good to hang around are the top of the ledges in Geyrophobia, but banshees and other snipers will kill you fast. If you're sniping at the ground, remember to stay back from the edge, as people may have sniper rifles on the ground. Again, look up occasionally to see if other snipers or banshees are around.

Apart from that, there are a few glitches you can use to boost your abilities. The best one for sniping is the "backpack reload". Shoot your sniper rifle , then press "R" (or reload) twice, then switch weapon and keep firing. After a couple of seconds, your sniper rife will have reloaded in your backpack, and you can hit reload twice and switch weapons again, and continue firing your sniper rifle! This glitch means you don't have to wait to reload to keep firing. It works on all weapons (except shotguns, because they take too long).

Another glitch is the double melee. Press melee, throw a grenade, melee again. Presto! Two melees in 1 second. Just watch out for the grenade you just threw!

Hope that helps!

QFT.

This basically sums up everything about sniping, if you cannot move you are dead. I just played an hour of halo on swat servers. Everyone thinks they are good because they can camp. Too bad you cannot hit me when I move around a lot and I can hit you easy because you are standing still.
