The one in Halo 3 is completly messed up, when people betray on purpose they don't get booted, but when I betray some one due to an honest mistake (Or they get them selves betrayed on purpose in an infection match) I'm booted before I can even apologise. There's no sugar coating it, it's a absolute joke and needs to change (Almost as much as the flame thrower and fuel rod gun)

Vancouver BC, Canada.

Same with the Ranking System.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

the game can't detect if you betrayed for the lulz or if it were a honest mistake.

I say, after you betray 2 times (no matter who), then the booting menu appears. not before.
that's the most fair thing I can think of.

What i would do, when someone gets betrayed, the betrayer gets put on a list, and if 3 people get betrayed and put him on the list, he gets booted, and gets a 2 hour ban.

So if you accidently betray 3 times you get banned for 2 hours? That's not a very good idea.

Turn off friendly fire, problem solved.

I went to the lost planet 2 forums and the members there are screaming for the halo 3 booting system in lost planet 2. It is a good system. The more you forgive people after they betray you the more you can betray people without them getting the option to boot you.

It's a good system.

Its even worse then you think you cant boot the host and if you betray him one time then he can boot you so the the host can betray all he wants and you can never boot him so I agree with you 100% we need change

You can boot the host. I booted him on one of my last Infection games. . .

Terrible idea. With friendly fire off, my team mates no longer need to be cautious around me. On a king of the hill match, I can stand smack dab in the center of the hill and have my team mates constantly shooting and throwing explosives around me and I'd be good because friendly fire is off, the other team wouldn't be able to approach.

Before if you had a guy with a rocket launcher and you were in close quarter combat with his team mate, you had until you killed the other guy to position yourself to dodge the rocket. But with friendly fire off? Your screwed, the guy can rocket away without caring about the safety of his buddy.

Bad idea.

Teammates could launch eachother across the map and get to ridiculous spots. . .

I think that CoD4/5 have a good take on it.

Either turn friendly fire off.

OR

Make it so that every player gets 2 (or three) betrayals before being auto-booted.

And as for the ranking system, again, CoD4 has a really good one. If you do well you are rewarded, even if your team loses.

If my purpose in life is to be hated, then I'll make a great boss

why not have a system that detects if it was kinda acidental, like say you killed an enemy or 2 with the same shot, it would only count as half in the booting system

a new system that detects if you were engage in a combat. Like for example, in WoW, when you are in "combat" you cant eat, or something like that, if you are in combat your betrayals are accidentally, etc...

Just make it so if someone betrays the option to boot appears 100% of the time. No need to make it random, because that just makes it unfair.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Sector 8 has the best system ever, its called FRIENDLY FIRE ONLY DRAINS SHIELDS. You cannot betray with friendly fire, only drain shields.

That's worse in my opinion. People would just keep on shooting you since they know they can't betray you. You would have low heath though and you would eventually be killed by the enemy.

They can do that now anyway? So whats wrong with it? Its better than them actually killing you, or you accidentally killing them, and getting booted.

Was it in custom games?

  • 08.23.2009 12:44 PM PDT

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I liked the Halo 2 booting system.

Maybe combine both.

Have betrayals negatively affect EXP as well.

Complaints wont help. Come up with suggestions.

How about after you betray somone a small screen appears in the corner to show death. the person can then decide to boot.

IMO they should can the exp system too, it's soo pointless, all it does is cause people to stress over a number in a video game.

Regarding the boot system, would a vote system work? Some other game had that system and it worked. ANYTHING is better than the one in Halo 3, ANYTHING, it's the worst system I have ever seen.
