Outpost 88: Phoenix galaxy/deep space:[ Contact ]

Lieutenant Jermire leaned back in his chair. He was bored as always, he missed being on Gladius, a UNSC destroyer. Now that the war was over, he was stuck in this god forsaken space station. Nothing interesting ever happened around this place, but Jermire was in for a surprise. He saw a blip on his radar, " That's strange, nobody comes all the way out here, Private verisan we have contact, identify it immediately.

"Yes sir." It only took the man a few seconds to figure out what it was, but it took him fifty seconds to process it through his mind, "It's an old Covenant flag ship, and it seems to be damaged. This doesn't make any sense, those things have been out of comition for at least two hundred years.
Jermire was puzzled, and he wanted to see it for himself, "Pull it up on monitor five."

"Yes sir." Sure enough, a flagship was floating through space. Then it happened, the ships lateral lines began to glow, and its plasma turrets slowly charged. The Lieutenant was paralyzed. Everyone in the control center was staring at the monitor. " S-sir, we have to sound the alarm!

"There's no use Private."

"But-"

"Everyone will be dead before they can reach the escape pods." The man closed his eyes.

"This can't be happening! The war is over, why are they doing this!" The flagships plasma turrets fired, gleaming as they coasted through space. Verisan broke out into a cold sweat, "No no no no no. Captain we have thirty seconds until impact we can get to the escape pods!"

"We are in deep space, it's useless." Jermire was being extremely morbid, but he was right. He knew he was dead, they were all dead. The Lieutenant decided to let the rest of the crew live their last few seconds in peace. There would be no time to think. The station wouldn't even shake, there was so much plasma, it would just disappear. Jermire was ready to die. He only had one regret, he couldn't take these bastards down with him. There was a spectacular flash of green light, and then...nothing.

Part 1

Earth: Kalary salt flats/ Dead Vile: 4:30 PM

Jim Steel was his name. He had no motives, no desires, and absolutely no money. He worked in a small building that produced steel products. He was the fastest and strongest worker the place had ever seen. After fifteen years in that place, he was given his last name, and it stuck. He started at four AM and got off at four PM. It didn't bother him much. There was basically nothing to do in the Dead vile except Working and drinking, his two hobbies.
Jim barged into the local bar, and slouched down in a seat at the counter, "Paul, whisky now."

"You got it Jim."

" Ya know, I'm guna leave this god damn dust bowl."

"You've been saying that for five years J." Paul slid a shot of whisky across the counter to Jim, "ether get to it or shut the hell up."

"Paul, why haven't I punched you in the face yet."

"You've been sayin that for ten years. Jimmy, I know ya hate this place. You don't have to stick around. You're the kinda guy who needs action. Why not join the Marines?"

"The wars over idiot." Steel downed the whisky like it was water, "that would be just as boring. If I join the Marines, I wana be shooting something." An Elite walked into the bar. Dead vile had more than humans in it. It was wearing torn cloth, his glory days were long gone. "Hey split lip." The alien cocked its head.

Paul sighed, "Jim, please, I don't want to clean your blood of the floor."

"Shut it, I'm guna kick this thing's ass." The drunken man threw a wild punch. He missed by a mile. The Elite hefted him up, and tossed him through the window of the run down building."

Paul winced and looked at the Elite, "Mister, you're payin for that window."

Jim got up off of the dirt, picked up his cowboy hat, and brushed his jacket. Then he decided he would stay there for a while. Jim dropped to the ground, and stared up at the sky. Who else is out there? He heard the roar of a pelican engine in the air, what was the UNSC doing all the way out here? The man watched as it touched down. Dust blew through the streets.
An officer noticed Jim laying it the dirt, and approached him, "Son, what in god's name are you doing."

" Soakin in the sun."

The officer sighed, "Well, I'm guna skip the bull and get to the point. You see, the UNSC is running a little short of recruits due to the recent events."

"What events?"

The officer looked around the streets at the dust covered buildings. A tumble weed rolled across the street, "You don't hear much around this place do you."

"No."

"Well, sign this paper here, here, and here. If you do that, then I'll tell you what's going on."
Jim thought for a few seconds, "Sounds good to me." He got up off the ground, took a pen from the officer, and started signing the paper. As he slid his hand across the white sheet, dust spread across. The thing was practically illegible by the time he was done.

"Welcome to the Marine Corps."

"Aw hell."

Honor Light Your Way, Our Blood Shall Forge A Thousand Generations!.

DUDE! Keep this one GOING! You hear me! No starting other series' like I do, stick with THIS ONE, TEAMKILL. You have an amazing idea here. I've been working on a story in secret, it isn't on B.net, yet. You'll be in for a surprise when I decide to post it. Only thing is, I'd try to work on a new name. The Flood returns kinda gives away the mystery of why the Covenant ships are attacking... try to change the name, if you can.

Part 2

The military officer jumped back in the pelican, "We leave at dawn!" Jim turned and walked towards the inn. He lived there. Very few people owned houses around Dead Vile. The streets were pretty silent. Very few were outside. He passed a methane bar, where the little Grunt bastards hung out all day. They were just a pure nuisance around here. The only thing they could do was carry crates around and get in your way. He finally reached the inn, threw some cash at the front desk, and walked towards the stairs.

A woman was leaning against the wall in front of him. Her dark brown hair ran down her shoulders. The girl's piercing emerald eyes seemed to look right through Jim. Steel knew that slender frame all too well. "If it isn't Jim Steel." She said with a smile.

"Hey beautiful."

"You've always been a charmer haven't you?"

Jim grinned, "I've got some good news. I'm finally getin outa here."

"Why is that good?"

"Well there aint anything here for me. I always wanted to split."

"There's nothing worth staying for?"

"Not one single thing Kel. Even if I wanted to stay, I couldn't"

Kelly frowned, "Why?"

"As of today, I'm a Marine!"

"Oh Jim." She winced, "You're guna get yourself killed!" The two had been best friends since the age of five. Kelly openly cared about him, but Jim wouldn't show how much he felt for her. He never opened up, never let his guard down. Living in a place like Dead Vile could do that to someone. The seclusion made one feel alone, and getting hurt would only make it worse. "You better not die on me."

Jim smiled and put his hand on Kelly's shoulder, "I won't."

Kelly stepped closer to him, and looked up into his eyes. She ran her fingers down his arms.

"Kel, don-"

"Please," She begged, " One more time...for me."

Jim exhaled, "Okay"

If you dont like this part dont let it get you down. This is just to get it kicking and give you a background on Jim.
