Sorry but things are just fine the way they are, i wouldn't hate it but it would improve it either.

Its not that some people are affraid of change, its that they don't want to see Halo become more like another game. Halo is known for its unique gameplay. As it stands, Halo is based around a nuetral starting point, with balance coming from map objectives (weapons, equipment, etc ...) being evenly distributed throughout the map.

Halo simply isn't designed for different weapon starts for each player. I'm not saying it wouln't turn out well, but being Bungie's last Halo game, they should perfect this particular style of FPS before moving on.

Garden City Freerunning

i would like being able to chose a starter weapon, and be able to find others on our own...

  • 08.23.2009 6:09 PM PDT

No because everyone will have the sniper rifle and the shotgun. Halo should stick with the playlists.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

They wouldn't be able to do that (you would have to choose a pistol as a gun)..................there would be a Find-Weapon search and Classes search.

Between the two, I'd prefer the old find-weapon approach. But I think that the best would be a hybrid, where you pick a class. You start with weapons based on the gametype as well as your class (there might be two or three groupings that the game picks from), and with a specific slew of weapons, you get a tad bit more auto-aim and deal a slight bit more damage. Plus, mayhaps a small benefit like being able to store a second equipment item, or one extra of one grenade type, or something as such.

I don't think we can drop finding weapons from the game, but I think we ought to tweak the mechanics.

Edit: Oh. Despite how clear you are, your topic is so foreign to me (and clearly others) that we just assume that you're asking which is better. How sad a commentary on people like us. Well, I would also be in favour of that selection being implemented in gametype options. But it'd be volatile if playing a class removed weapon pick-up options.

Signatures are for squares.

No. No classes at all.

And just because I feel that way doesn't mean I'm afraid of change.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

Why do you always post things about Call of Duty? No to Classes. No, no, no.

  • 08.23.2009 9:39 PM PDT

I think it would be a cool addition to the game to add classes. But they would definitely have to shake things up by doing something different, rather than just "You start with *Weapon* and that's it". Maybe they will add like power-ups to weapons on the maps or something along those lines.

If they did it well I would have no problem with it, and judging by the Banner classes are going to be in Reach...

Agreed. I hated CoD for the fact that if you wasted your life on it, you got better weapons than other people. If you sucked at CoD, you would always suck. Halo allows for beginners to have the same chance as dedicated players. No enhancements or unlockable weapons, just skill.

maybe throw it in there if you want to do custom games but other than that, DON'T TOUCH MATCHMAKING!!

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

I've played and loved Team Fortress 2, so I'm pretty phyched about the class system. My only real concern about the classes is the inevidable OP class that comes into play. Then again we already have the BR so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

...God I want 9/22 to come already....

I totally agree with the no unlockable weapons part, that and the fact that you die in two god damn machine gun bullets made me regret buying COD4.

I wanted a gumball so I said "Yo devil you got change for a soul?"Satan appeared and said "Yeah, yeah mosuckra! I got yo change right here just sign this contract and I'll give you your quarters!" So I signed it, lost my soul, and got 4 quarters. I have never regretted this decision.

I make coups, they are fun to make. Want me to make you one? Just ask I'll see what I can do.

Think it's safe to say that a vast majority of people here would say no to classes.

Can we try not make two different games similar?

I believe they are different for a reason.

Quite honestly, you are either being sarcastic or stupid. Do I really need to go back to middle school with [insert answer here], [rephrase question here]?

No, I do not want the option to chose starting clases in Halo: Reach. The current weapon set up that we know and love simply isn't balanced for that. It would require a completely new weapon balance, a completely new map styling, and a completely new custom set-up option,

Did your mother ever tell you to finish what you already have on your plate before taking more?

This is Bungie's chance to perfect the style of FPS that Halo is currently known for. MAYBE an option to sometimes chose between AR/PR or BR/Carbine starts, but nothing more. Bungie can do classes in their next series.
