Classes may work for campaing, choosing between the Spartans, you could play as Linda, or John, or Sam, etc... (or others, like ODST, marines).

But for multiplayer, it wont work well

Realistic, huh. Either you haven't played COD or your an idiot that thinks being magically healed from some sort of mystical force in the battlefield is realistic.

And you have probably never reloaded a gun so we're not even going to touch that subject.

Its not that some people are affraid of change, its that they don't want to see Halo become more like another game. Halo is known for its unique gameplay. As it stands, Halo is based around a nuetral starting point, with balance coming from map objectives (weapons, equipment, etc ...) being evenly distributed throughout the map.

Halo simply isn't designed for different weapon starts for each player. I'm not saying it wouln't turn out well, but being Bungie's last Halo game, they should perfect this particular style of FPS before moving on.
