Alright, time to introduce myself. I've played halo online since I found xbox connect more than 2 years ago, LAN frequently with my friends, nd I've been to halo tournaments and done well. Now that we've gotten that over with, I'm a little scared about a pattern I've seen in the maps for Halo 2...they're all huge and in my oppinion look unenjoyable...and it's not just me either. Many people I've played with forever have all came to the conclusion that the large venues are the least strategic, the least fun to play, and often taking hours to finish. The vehicles seem to be unbalancing too easy to kill someone else with them, and yet...at times to easy to be finished off while in one. It's not that I think that there shouldn't be large maps. I believe that some people might find them enjoyable...like the blood gultch following in halo...but I would like to see more of the maps that I loved like prisoner wizard hang me and dammy...the maps that made the first halo's multiplayer the best I've ever played.

ya my friends and i play via LAN a lot, and CTF on blood gultch BLOWS now, id much rather do it in prisoner or something, hopefully they bring back the old maps and make some new smaller ones.
the only reason i might play a big map in halo2 is because of sniping games or single flag CTF. that might be fun because your either confined to a small location or you get to use all the vehicles and make cool plans

In the first Halo I found Sidewinder even a bit larger, and it took a while for some matches to end. Blood Gulch seemed to be perfect for larger games since you were able to put down a full frontal assault from a few key points, but you also had the advantage of being able to snipe people from the opposite end of the map.
Some of the most enjoyable games I had in Halo were with small and almost medium sized maps such as Wizard, Prisoner, and High 'em High.
I hope Bungie will either include these exact levels in Halo 2, or at least create levels close to their size and form.

what the hell is hang me and dammy, oh well it is not true that they take the least skill they require patence, long games are more fun because the longer it lasts the more you want to win. those maps are by no means small, small is chiron. you dont like them because you dont have the skills to compete in game with big maps

Bungie has already said they are making big maps, small maps (and all maps in between) By the way, The big levels aren't going to be just open field (like Blood gulch). The Levels that they have have different sections (hard to describe it anyother way) Like in Zanzibar, theirs the beach, the 2 open fields (I think) The upper layer, the wheel, and the base. Let me see, so in lamens terms, I guess I could say that they have small parts in big levels! (I like that)

The best TS level in Halo will always be Chill Out. And yes Zanzibar is small, anly because its a little to crouded with objects. I dont think you will be able to ride vehicles that well.

and a reason why the huge maps such as waterworks will be awesome will be because of banshee's and other now goodies in there. at the alpha test the people really liked waterworks, so im gonna take their word on it because they have played it.

I like how Bungie is making the game harder for snipers (in my opinion they are). Hell, in blood gulch, all they would need to do is get the sniper and move a few feet to kill the other team on the other side of the map, and if we were to kill him, he'd just pick the sniper back up and do it again. (of course, our team would have that advantage, too) In the maps that I've seen of Bungies, they've made the maps have many different entrances and exits to where you need to go. That's blocking where snipers need to shoot. So the Sniper would have to move into a good position to take the other team out.

One of my friends just snipes... I challenged him to a close range battle, and I won 33 to 3 (he shut off the xbox) Not saying all snipers are like that, I know another friend who kicks ass with both sniper and other weapons.

What I'm trying to say is that the sniper can't just pick up the sniper and just start shooting the other side to kill (BG), they actually have to fight to get to where they need to snipe! Yay! I love it I love it I love it!

I'm supposing none of you have ever played XBC or in a tournament, ask the best players if they enjoy large maps (Blood Gultch) (sidewinder) and they'll laugh in your face, then -blam!- you in a game. But anyways .. from what I've seen all the maps look huge. Where are the one's like Prisoner or Wizard? In all the pictures I've only seen big maps that are outside. Any good players know huge maps aren't fun. They last hours on end, and if you're good enough, either team can't score and the game lasts hours, utnil one team wants to see the score and just lets the other team score, and usually during that people kill each other .. and get in fights about it. Happens all the time in LANs.

Zanzibar is the same size as Blood Gultch it just doesn't seem that way becasue the maps are so more well designed because they actually have something besides a base and a field.

A question about Zanzibar, where is the defenders base?

I will agree with Shadow Warrior that Zanzibar doesn't seem to be like blood gultch And I agree with Darius that when you're playing a huge map...it's just about getting the sniper and staying in one spot the whole game...actually finishing the game and capturing the flag is for lesser noobs...this is what I'm afraid of...after looking at maps where...all I see is open space I'm afraid that it will be like these maps where you end up sniping...and the game never ends. It gets worst when it's set on instant respawn to "Make it more chaotic..." Which I suppose some people believe makes the game more fun? It takes the whole penalty out of dying and turns ctf into a frag fest with an option of picking up a flag...brings a whole new meaning to spawn camping because there is no other place for the other team to spawn...just my thoughts.

I didn't think there would be a 'Defenders' base .. I though there'd be like 2 bases one for the elites and one for the spartans.

The whole idea for Zanzibar is that it's single flag assault one base type of thing...like a dday invasion where you switch sides...

Don't worry Lockout is designed to be fun for 2 players, but can also be fun for 16. This is the map Frankie and Sketch play.

Blood gultch sucks it's the most overated map ever. All it is is a pistol sniping, sniper whoring, power-up rocket lovers map. And I hope that Halo 2 NOT have it as a "classic" map.
