Big like Hang Em High is fine but not like blood gulch, and may I say Boarding action although that one can be fun sometimes. I'd say the solution to making them more fun could be random item respawns, but then again maybe not.

I am glad someone finally posted on this, I've played Halo for a little over a year, on XBC and we pretty much have LAN parties every night and no, we don't play big maps or -blam!- games like CTF at BG with all vehicles, that is for NOOBS. Guru, you are an idiot and if you're saying someone doesn't have skills to compete in large maps you're a moron, it requires much more skill to fight someone on a small map than a huge map. On Blood Gulch a noob can go grab a sniper and sit there the whole game, taking out the other unskilled players until a good player takes him out, but on a map like Prisoner if they try that they'll be wacked in no time.

Plus, who gives a damn about the banshees? I know no good players, tournament players, or anyone who respects the game of Halo are looking more forward to the stupid vehicles than the new weapons and maps. I personally hope Bungie realizes that the players that matter, the good players, don't want all huge maps. Halo PC was trash because all they did was put in large maps and overpowered weapons, but I do know Bungie did not make the mods to Halo PC, Gearbox (s.hitbox) did it.

Every map requires patience in its own way, to be in postion to get the powerups when they spawn, to be able to grab the rocket or sniper.. small maps require team strategy.. large maps require things you learn when you're just a noob. SO.. I hope they don't put many large maps in Halo 2, Halo: CE rocked because of the great smaller and midsize maps, not because of crap like the overrated BG and Sidewinder. And oh yeah, Chiron isn't as small as most maps, it's just it's a lot of portals. It's also crap.

One more thing, the people who want huge maps and more vehicles are the same n00bs who say the pistol is too powerful, they are players who opinions mean crap to me.

PS: I love Boarding Action for sniper battles, 4v4 there all snipers is a great game to tone up your sniping skills. Yes it's been played at big tournaments, it was a Finals game between StK and TDT.

If you think about it, why would they make big maps if they know lots of people out there dont have enough friends/money/controllers. Which concludes to there being bots. I just thought about that from reading this post. Like me, I wont have fun playing big maps when its just me and a friend, so I think bots are in the game for sure. More evidence. Sorry for being a little off subject. I think they designed the big maps just right making them fun to play, in any gametype and style.

Have large maps, a little biger then Sidewin.
Meduim like BG, Hang them.
Small like Longest.

I love small maps, I love big maps. It matters what you're playing.

Shotguns, and normal on Longest, Battle creek, and Chil out is fun.
Rockets or shotguns is very fun on Priz.
Sinpers, normal, and rockets is very fun on Hang them.
Sinpers, normal is fun on BG, and Sidewin.
Rockets, normal, and shotguns is very fun on Fat race.
For team deathmatch or deathmatch keep 4 frags, and no reswapn time.
For CTF, king of the hill, odd ball keep 4 frags and 5-10 seconds reswapn time.
Oh and I find playing with out sheilds and 200% health is the best.

It's just what "you" like. Have it your way!

I didn't say nothing about being -blam!-, your -blam!- preference is none of my concerns but if you like big maps and vehicles you are a noob so get over it... GUY. :)

Hahhaa, well, if you said -blam!- or n00b, both are still people. so FART IN YOUR FACE

  • 07.23.2004 12:38 AM PDT

SB-117

havent read everything in this thread so in regards to the first post:

We've only seen 4 maps. Some of which are medium sized like Zanzibar and Lockout (I think) so theres obviously plenty more maps and almost certainly going to be small maps for fast fragging.

Again, if everyone doesn't like things your way, noob. Why? (I'm not trying to be combative, I'm just wondering why personal preference = noob) I've been playing FPS's since the 80's and halo since I got an Xbox 2 years ago..

I'm not saying I'm the best. I win more than I lose, but I'm a noob, not because I can't play, but because I like larger maps & vehicles sometimes?

It would seem that the guys making the game think the big maps and vehicles are kinda cool.

I like very huge maps! It´s more tactical! And someone who say, grabbing a sniper to take out the other players (or teams) is easy, didn´t play against people who knows how to hide!!

By playing with my friends over LAN, the last thing you could observe, is that someone is runing in open fields!! It´s like digging your own grave!!

One last word to the vehicles! We got so skilled snipers (me included) that get in a tank, is almost like shooting yourself!!

So, we NEED huge Maps with good Cover and Hiding Positions!!!

Let me get this straight. A loud-mouthed, self-righteous, pompous kid who joined, what, a week ago, is calling Meerlar, a Bungie.net member since December of last year, a 'noob'? How's that for ironic?

I hate to stereotype. That being said, shadedhalo both your presence and preceding posts are little more than a testament to the overwhelming flood of offensive, dimwitted, misinformed and ultimately worthless members who plague these forums on a daily basis.

Perhaps a closer look at the subtleties of respectable conversation is in order; until then, keep your obtrusive, obtuse, senseless ramblings to a dull chatter.

No, big maps are not for "noobs." Each map has a distinct playing style, game play experience and overall feel. It's simply a matter of preference; I fail to understand how one could argue otherwise.

I for one enjoy smaller maps but that's not to say that bigger maps, including Blood Gulch, don't retain redeeming qualities.

A variety of maps is best, give everyone something they'll like. Liking large or small doesn't make anyone a noob or not, there are skills in navagating booth large and small maps.

If anyone could read they would see I wasn't calling someone who liked large maps a 'noob'. Yes they can be skillfull encounters on large maps, my post simply stated that vehicles are the easiest thing in the game to master and I just believe someone who constantly wants to be driving around instead of using weapons, the way Halo was meant to play, is playing like a n00b.

The post about Bungie obviously liking larger maps and vehicles is very easy to understand. There is people who play Halo who will play it because of these things, these are not good players, they're not the players who will be playing 2 years from now in tournaments, and they're not the big name players who advertise Halo around the world.. but they will spend 50 bucks for the game so there has to be something that appeals to them. However, Bungie being the geniuses they are sees that adding these things in make the game require less skill so what do they do? They put in many different ways to take out vehicles, and make is so you can't carry a flag in a vehicle... in other words, weakening vehicles in really skillful games. I don't mind playing on large maps at all, and if a player in a vehicle comes at me 9/10 he will lose the battle. However if I am fighting someone else and a n00b drops down in a banshee and gets a kill, betrays his teammate and overall just messes up the entire game, then Hell yeah it's aggravating and it means vehicles are too noob friendly. This is what I saw in Halo PC, thus the reason I hated it.

To the guy who used many big words and told me to keep my comments to a dull chatter, I have as much right to post in these forums as you and my friend I will post what I want, when I want, as much as I want, and say whatever the Hell I want to say and you can argue with me all you want, it will not shut me up... so if you respond with a bland comment you just influence me farther.

PS: I am anything but a pompous kid, I am simply someone who will express my opinion in any way I see fit.

I'm afraid it's a little too late to try and deny your claim that both vehicles and large maps are for 'noobs,' as your prior posts serve as indisputable evidence to the contrary. I see no reason to continue to argue this point, so I'll simply leave it at that.

Granted, players who are new to the Halo universe are often, if not always, attracted to the vehicles at first. Having played Halo over the past several years, I've become rather impartial to vehicles myself (and to be honest, I loathe the Scorpion Tank) - though the Warthog certainly has its moments.

True as that may be, you're jeopardizing your right to post on these forums with the inclusion of the term 'noob' which you so carelessly fling about. I personally have no quarrel with the term, the mods however, are a very different story - that's not to be mistaken as a threat; I have no intentions of 'alerting' the mods.

Continuing to assume the "the guy who used many big words" is myself, I hope that my post influenced you and evidently it did, as you've taken steps to present your thoughts in a more reasonable manner. Unfortunately, I do believe the word you were looking for was encourage, in which case I can only hope that you can restrain yourself from continually bashing your own community.

PS: I am anything but a pompous kid, I am simply someone who will express my opinion in any way I see fit.

Furthermore, try and keep in mind that the means in which you choose to present your opinions are indicative of their subsequent merit, significance and value - Just a suggestion.

Edit: I just noticed you quoted yourself in your signature...

I agree that new players are instinctively attracted to the vechiles when first playing halo however this is no reason to call people who use them noobs? Are you suggesting that if you play Single Flag CTF on Blood Gulch that you are gonna escape on foot? I think not, Id like to see how you play, your totally full of yourself, so much so your totally oblivious to other peoples views. You can't just say, oh you your in a tank you must be a n00b, oh your playing on blood gulch, oviously not as good as I am.

I am giong to tell you the same thing i tell everyone. Halo is the best. Love all the maps and all the weapons. There is no way you can't. If you don't like everything about Halo, at least do the ones who do a favor and don't -blam!-. If you suck so bad that you have to have things just how you want it and can't use all weapons, and learn to play all the maps, just quite. Your not worth the effort of playing against.

I present my opinions as I wish to present them, wether it be arrogant or not I do not care. I also have no care for the mods to know I used the word 'n00b', because it has been in the topics of many threads throughout these forums. I come here to argue, not to learn anything because there is much better forums for learning.

We at least do share one thing in common, loathe the scorpion tank. I do quote myself in my signature, it's not to be arrogant it's just to make a point, I'll simply remove the quotations around the comment and then you can all it what you will. I disagree on your points but from the way you speak you seem like you are more intelligent than 99 percent of the people who post in these forums and know quite a bit about Halo, for that I respect you. However my points were based more on maps used for vehicles than the maps themself and I am thankful for all the changes Bungie is making in order to limit vehicle use. The warthog as you said has its moments when it's useful, but it should only be used for transportation and not a weapon in my opinion. I believe that is where you was going with that comment, that it should be used for transportation. If I act arrogant it is because there is so many people in these forums who have very little idea of what they are talking about and absolutely no idea how to express the small idea they do have. The fact of the matter is simple, the best players in the world post in the mlgpro and theagp forums, that is where intelligent matters take place. These forums are basically for players saying 'WHOO I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THAT THERE NEW FLYING VEHICLE IN HALO 2' and for that I see them as mere players and not addicts.

Rest assured my problems are not in the fact I can't play all maps, they are with the facts players reside in one or two maps because of the vehicle use. Furthermore, the one who made the comment about walking out of BG with the flag on foot, my friend in Halo 2 you'll have to carry the flag on foot because it cannot go into a vehicle... and for that I wish you the best of luck. I also do love everything about Halo, to each person his own.. I just encourage all of you who play nothing but BG CTF with all vehicles to try different games and broaden your horizons, perhaps you will see what Halo is really all about then.

To me Halo is a sport, a competetion not unlike football or basketball, and in my town that same opinion reigns supreme. I'm sorry if I look down on the ones who look at the game as a destruction derby with guns.

"Oh did you see that? you saw him repress me?"

Well not everyone here is arguing, and practially no-one except you enjoys having their view point smashed by some arrogant tw_at like you. Just because me and fireminion play different games to you, doesn't mean were n00bs we've been playing it since it came out, so that makes every1 except bungie employees n00bs! so politly Fuc_k off, all you do is cause arguments by thrusting your view onto others wheather they want to hear it or not, because your too immature and arrogant to see that you might be wrong.

I agree with anyone who wants to ALWAYS get into a vehicle is probably a n00b as the Scorpion can be sniped, ghost dodged <crouch if they're running you over, if your on level ground they go over your head> and the worthog is useless, unless you've got a gunner. Indoor levels like Prisioner, Hang em High n Battle Creek <altho thats not "indoors"> are good for slayer and oddball, but race and CTF <assault, iron CTF or just CTF> are best with 8-12 peeps on Blood Gulch IMO as thats where alot of the skill is, by all the different angles you can attack the base, and so vehicles are used!

Ok Andz Jones go back and read your post, now tell me, who looks immature? Despite your constant cursing you misspelled half the words in your post as well. If anything you made yourself look immature as well as illiterate and down right dumb. If you don't want to read my views then don't read my posts, plain and simple. I doubt you will agree with them and you and your friend play these maps, ok, then you two kids play together and have fun. My posts aren't to two friends who play CTF BG together and have a -blam!- ole time in the warthogs, they are to the players who actually play Multiplayer at LAN parties, on XBC.. and actually compete to win and not just screw off. So please don't try to retaliate an argument with me when you can barely spell your own name.

My opinions are not without justification. I have played many matches on XBC on other player's host, even them being at BG. I would play someone at BG, whatever game they chose and they would put up decent numbers some of the time. I would then ask for a regular slayer game at a normal arena, and their decent numbers on the vehicle maps would disappear to basically nothing. They would show no skill with the pistol or any other weapon and would run around lost without their precious ghost. These players I call noobs because they refuse to open up the other great things in Halo, and rely on vehicle use primarily.. getting pwned without it. I simply ask them to try something new.

Also if you're gonna play CTF you guys probably need to get some practice in playing on smaller maps that require actual skill and not driving ability, you can't enter vehicles with the flag in Halo 2.
