You would think that you would be able to melee when dual weilding I mean it would just be the typical plasma rifle melee for all the guns cause there all single handed so it would make sense

i know they dident have it on E3 2004 but alot has changed since then

they already said that pressing the melee button while dual weilding will cause you to discard your left handed weapon. read the faq on this site. it list all the controls for dual weilding.

Being able to melee would give a disadvatage to the players not duel wielding, both have their upsides and downsides thus balancing the weapons.

Meleeing while dual weilding will not be possible in Halo 2, since it helps balance the weapons.
For getting extra power with two weapons in hand you lose the advantage of meleeing in close combat or killing a person quickly and silently from behind.

There's just not a practical way to make that happen. That's why Bungie has made it so that when you hit the melee button while dual-wielding, you throw down the gun in your left hand.
