I think that Halo: Reach will be Master Chief "Remembering Reach" in the broken ship.
People playing the game won't know this except in the final cut scene (maybe only on Legendary). Cortana wakes up Master Chief up because she sees something which is either Arbiter and the elites or a UNSC ship. This could/couldn't be the beginning of a Halo 4 (probably not) because he woken "when he is needed".

PROOF
-Remember Reach from the ODST trailer (or that is just marketing for their next game)
-CJ Cowan said in an interview for the Official Xbox Magazine that an ODST was on reach.
-Bungie wouldn't let everyone speculate what happens to Master Chief , they will clear up what happened at the end of Halo 3.

so he has memories of other people? doesn't work.

crap, because that wasn't a bad idea at all.

OH I KNOW
he was on the ship so he sees the other Spartans go off the ship to Reach
Then he finds out they die
He is dreaming about what HE thinks happened

...Does anyone really read these?

Why not? They did it in ODST. How about you are the chief and you get to walk around the ship and you find items which remind you of your fellow Spartans and you play as them!
Ex: You find a combat knife spinning around in ZeroG's . (Flashback =Fred) and then towards the end you save the other Spartans from the Dyson sphere. One of the flashbacks shows where they are and chief goes there and gets them out.
Course a regular campaign playing as FRED Would be EPIC!

how awesome would it be if i was right about this speculation, which is very possible abd I wouldn't put Bungie past it

pretty sweet idea!

Perhaps Cortana could be playing back the films recorded in the Spartans helmet cams? If that Marine in Halo CE has a camera, surely a Spartan would. This allows it to be flashbacks, but from multiple viewpoints.

Just rock to the rhythm of the funky Rhyme, So i can get busy just one more time.

This would make the storyline far too convoluted and confusing.

And please for future reference instead of saying "PROOF" please use the word "Evidence" or "Reasoning" because theres no such thing as proof this early. thanks.

They actually don't die, if you read the book series, Master Chief goes back to reach after the events at Halo and finds out that about 5 of them survived (the ones on the poster?), plus the one that he saved in space (which was actually on Halo with him!) After they are rescued they go back to Earth, with the exception of one Spartan, who was kidnapped by Dr. Halsley (the one who created the Spartan-II's.)
In the next book, Ghost of Onyx, we find out that another one of the Spartans, believed to be dead, was actually training new Spartan-III's. The planet Onyx, which they were training on, was soon attacked by the Sentinels, and later the Covenant. I don't want to give away the story, but many of the Spartans are still alive, and are residing in a shield that is strong enough to block the Halo attacks.

Many? Only Fred, Kelly and Linda are alive in the Micro-Dyson Sphere. They are the only Spartan II's whose locations are known. Other Spartans may be alive, such as Red Team in HaloWars, and possibly Grey Team, but we do not know for definate.

I dont know exactly what to call it, but it has something to do with spaggetti, duct tape and razor blades...

Sure, it's a good idea. There are many ways to go about it. I'm sure Bungie has something good in store for us.

How will the chief remember a battle he didn't participate in? John never fought on the surface of reach, he was only monkeying about at a space station for an hour, before fleeing.

In the ODST trailer, the rookie picks up an exsplosive charge, then suddenly you remember how one of your squadmates held of Banshees and Wraiths to blow up a bridge, If an ODST can, why can't a Spartan?

holy -blam!- -blam!- and -blam!- balls batman, I like this idea

  • 08.25.2009 3:40 PM PDT

I'm telling you he sees them get dropped onto Reach and sees what he thinks happened

  • 08.25.2009 5:53 PM PDT

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

This idea makes a lot more sense than all those timetravel conspiracies, but I'd rather have a more linear playthrough with a more high-octane thrill of watching the planet get asploded. But thats just me. This is still a good idea.

You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

I don't know about that.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

To start, the Chief was not on Reach during the battle of Reach. He was making sure the Covenant didn't get their hands on a Nav core that hadn't been wiped clean. James was lost and Linda died. John took her back to Pillar of Autumn, and they jumped to avoid being captured. The events of Halo then ensue.

Second, Bungie could very well just leave the chief floating in Space. The reason they left him is to represent the "full circle", as the chief started in a pod, so does he return.

I highly doubt Reach will be using flashbacks, and will not feature John, unless it's for a very brief moment.
