were you able to play for a little bit, and then get the error? If not, you need a better grafx card. You don't need a $500 card (hence the word "need"), A card with at least 64 MB is sufficient, but 128 MB is the minimum for really good performance.

Yes you bought it for nothing if you aren't going to buy a new graphics card. You can't expect to play any relatively new PC game with integrated graphics, which is what you have. A patch won't do anything. Integrated graphics are what cheaper or older PC's have. However, more and more newer pc's come with some type of actual graphics card, one made from either ATI or Nvidia. You can buy a low end to mediocre one online for less than $100. Sorry, but you're -blam!- out of luck unless you buy a graphics card. By the way, if its a laptop, you won't be able to upgrade the graphics card.

Get a Radeon X850 XT
Get AMD 4000+ & Good mother board
Get 1 GB of PC3200 (or faster) RAM
Get a 15000 RPM Hard Drive
Get Windows XP Professional

Then I can GARENTEE you will not have ANY problems WHATSOEVER running Halo.

(total cost = ~$2000)

Don't get professional if you are just using it as a home computer. You will have problems. That patch is for 256mb cards I believe so it won't help you. Get a better card. An Nvidia 5200 at the lowest.

I KNOW WHAT THE PROUBLEM IS: On my other computer i also have a S3 it came on a diffrent Power Spec that i have. S3's kill over and die on games like halo, yes you did waste money, so buy a new vid card, you cant play halo with that vid card, i had the exact same proublem, so i did contact my system manufator and thats what they said. TRUST ME. lol, funny that someone else had the same proublem. It's ok just get a new video card and once u do halo wont be a waist of money.

No, getting the 5200 would be a big mistake. Its actually a terrible card and fools alot of people. I have it on one of my computers (that i obviously don't use for gaming) and it can't run many games. I installed Halo on it once and it was a joke. Even at the very lowest settings it chugged and of course looked like an N64 game. Even playing Counter-Strike, a seven year old game, it lags when someone throws a smoke grenade. And this is with a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz and 1GB of PC3200 Ram.
