When I first heard that in Halo 3 you could rip off turrets and walk around with them, I was really psyched. Until the game came out, and I realized that there weren't very many of these weapons. Don't get me wrong, I love the detachable turrets and stuff, but I would like to see more of these weapons, and with more versatile roles.

Like the Hunter's fuel rod beam? Imagine tearing up a group of Covenant with that monster after you took down a hunter and stole its weapon.

And the warthog? What if your warthog is blown up? Wouldn't it be cool to salvage the turret and use its ammo to take down the sons-a-bi7ches that blew your ride up?

Who agrees that the 3rd person weapons have more potential in Halo Reach?Post your thoughts on the subject!

You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

I would actually like to see what these weapons would look like first person, but if we had to stick with 3rd person, I would definitely like to see more.

I kind of agree, but it would look pretty weird holding a 50 cal. or a missile pod in 1st person in my opinion.

I would love to see more support weapons. A giant shotgun type weapon like in Lost Planet 2, a Gauss Cannon, the Hunter Assault Cannon. The support weapons just make Spartans feel more like super soldiers.

I completely agree.

(They are called support weapons).

Sure, if they fill a niche in the Sandbox, they are welcome aboard.

I'm pretty sure that the original plan for destroyed Warthogs was to be able to salvage the turret.
Also, the Hunter's fuel rod wouldn't be detachable, as it is a a part of their armor, and their armor is "made of an unknown alloy" that is pretty much near-indestructible.

I don't see why a spartan couldn't tear it off somehow... seeing as they also can flip a 10 ton Elephant...

how bout a new unsc vehicle or air vehicle

  • 08.26.2009 2:13 PM PDT

Bringing coherent and well-thought-out replies to the Bungie forums since... a while.

I think if the arm is impossible to rip off, maybe after downing a Hunter you can at least pick up it's arm and fire it from the location of the corpse. Imagine, lob a spike grenade on to it's back from above, then jump down and grab it's arm, swingng it round in an arc of green death to melt the guard of Grunts it had, or even to fizzle the face off of it's bond brother...

Furthermore, Warthog turrets should only be allowed to be pulled off or used AFTER it's destroyed. I do like the sound of more 3rd person perspective.

I don't know about the arm, I mean, if a spartan can flip a several ton elephant in a second, why can't they rip an arm off?

Wraiths are 37 tons...
Elephant = Over 60 tons?

I like the Hunter Cannon idea, but i'm not so sure about salvaging a warthog turret.

  • 08.27.2009 7:22 PM PDT

Reachhhhhhhh

I don't even agree with the idea of mobile turrets. It just ruins the purpose of it being a turret. The thing is that it is supposed to be a pwn weapon, but its disadvantage is that it is vulerable to the stealthy sniper in the back corner of the map. It also ruined the oppurtunities of bringing back classics from halo 2 ssuch as tower of power with the -blam!- turret that has a complete view of the middle map.

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

no, its an fps, not an tps(?) the concept is great, but halo is a fps, and sould limit its none fp to keep the game from becoming the crap they called gears.

First person is how the spartan views the world so it wouldn't be "weird" just natural.

No thanks, Halo was meant for first person, so I'll stick to first person.

Yeah I kind of estimated... but if the elephant is like 60+ tons why the hell is it impossible for a spartan to rip off the arm? lol

And to make it clear I don NOT want to see a completely 3rd person game. I want to see more support weapons with more versatile features. In no way what-so-ever do I want gears/crap of halo.

I would love the ability to salvage turrets form destroyed vehicles. Also maybe some anti-vehicular turrets, like a mounted Gauss turret, and a Fuel Rod turret similar to one of the pairs of three mounted on an Anti-Air Wraith. Then maybe these could spawn in whenever you destroy an Anti-Air Wraith or Gauss Warthog.

That would be pretty awesome to salvage the turret off of any vehicle, but it might be a little unfair to have a guass cannon that you could pick up.

Too late, kid. There are already 3rd person weapons in Halo 3.

Yet another person bashing a good idea and trying to justify it with some half assed BS excuse.
