Halo Reach will be not the last Halo Game from bungie ;)

He's got a point though. How are Bungie going to make Halo: Reach better than the rest of the series. Expectation is high.

wait.... H3 has a great campaign?

if you ignore the fact they removed half of the story for fanservice (no covenant point of view) and if you ignore it's extreme shortness (even perfect dark zero has a longer campaign) then I'd say it's decent. not great.

You are right about the campaign being short, but you have to remember, at least 4 of the levels are massive. That takes up a lot of space. If Bungie had reduced the size of the levels, they could have put more in.

halo 3 campaign had replayability because you need to beat it on legendary, and you need to get the achievements

I don't understand how people can say this, if you're viewing the story of the Separatists, its the story of the humans, since they were working side by side (playing as any other character than the Chief in co op is essentially the exact same thing as playing from a different perspective). If it's the story of the Covenant, then who exactly would you be? A random Brute? Doing what? Staying next to Truth who doesn't exactly do anything major besides head towards the Ark and its control room? There isn't much the Covenant did besides head towards the control room, and try to slow down the Humans. The story was pretty straightforward compared to Halo 2.

Bungie, if Halo:Reach is going to be the very last halo game you better pour all of your sweat and blood into it

I think they do that anyway. Just depends on whether they want to do anything different, or keep the recipe the same. Bungie rule whatever they do.

no, what I meant was that you are ALWAYS master chief. all the game long, you're in his boots.

in H2 you'd also play as the arbiter, and there are plenty of times where the arbiter is not with MC in H3.
why didn't we get to know what he does? he probably was doing missions too with elites and grunts. bungie could have shown us more about the hatred between elites and brutes, for example, or the elite's feelings toward the prophets, etc. and if an arby mission is played coop, add MC to it, the same way arby appears in MC only missions.

I hated the fact you only see humans in H3, it's like bungie tried to erase elites from the game. "elites? what elites? only apes."

Damn... I hate to disagree, but Floodgate. You see Elites in Floodgate, but only for a short time.
But yes, you are correct about how Bungie should have shown the Elite-Brute war in more detail.

floodgate and the mission with the three towers you have to deactivate too.
that makes 2 times where you see elites in the whole campaign. not a lot imo, it doesn't look like a strong alliance.

I guess you are a fan of the Elites from your Arbiter and well-reasoned arguements. I forgot about the Covenant mission. Elites should be seen more, and to a point, they should be your allies for the entire game, where you fight alongside them.

yep indeed.
I really LOVED the fact you get to play as the arbiter in H2, with elites and grunts. not only because it pleased the elite in me, but also because let's face it, it extended the story by adding a new point of view to the war.

but in H3, they did fan service, and removed the covenant side of the story, and removed elites from the whole game (except for like the only 2 times you see them and mp). that's really what disapointed me. I knew you wouldn't kill them anymore... but I wasn't expecting them to not even appear during the game. if humans and elites are allied, it's definitely not obvious to me. it's like the elites are like "need help for that assault? well, gtfo do it yourselves"

I Love ODST. Nice game.

They dont need luck.. They have Ling-Ling's Head!

Seeing the war from the Covenant side was a fantastic idea. A lot of people didn't like it, but I did, but mainly to see how the Covenant worked in battle. I loved the variety of Elites you could have; blue, red, black, silver, gold.... It was better than these shoddy brutes we have at the moment.
I never play as Elites in MP, but in campaign, I replayed the Arbiter levels more than any others.

  • 08.26.2009 5:47 AM PDT

I really hope Halo: Reach won't be the last of the Halo game.

I agree with everything the OP said. Good luck, Bungie. We know you won't let us down.

In the story of halo Master Chief is the Protagonist. The elites are cool and all but they rarely appear in the game because it is the story of the chief. It's frivilous to go into detail about a side character like the arbirter or Sgt. Johnson or Commander Keyes, they all played big parts in the war too but they are not the main character in halo, and that's why they don't go into detail about them.
