Disclaimer: This is 100% fan made and purely theoretical. None of the following details/previews are actual Bungie confirmed. You have been informed. As you may have guessed, this is largely inspired by MLG Cheewawa's popular Halo: Reach Campaign script. As with his piece, the following post may/may not be true to what Halo: Reach turns out to be, but I have no affiliation with Bungie or their working on the new game.
PART 1 - Your new suit's a Mk.5, just came up from Reach this morning....
So, starting the basics of my (fan-made) Reach Multiplayer Beta Preview (RMBP). This time around, players will be allowed to switch character model from Spartan/Elite, possibly to Brute too but I don't want to have to bring up "Brutes in Reach MP" again. They would be allowed to do this in-game; by the manner of that before they spawn they are given the choice to choose betweeen what character models will be available in Reach. Spartan shields will recharge like they did in Halo CE (slower), as will the shields of any other suitable, playable character model.
When you spawn in Reach's Multiplayer, the interface on your H.U.D. is little different from Halo CE's interface, except now you can place NavPoints. There is also now an option for the Spartan/Elite/Brute to prone.
PART 2 - Spawning, getting going, slaughtering...
The starter weapon in Reach would not be the Assault Rifle. Or the Battle Rifle. Or the Scarab Gun, either. All players (on default gametypes) would spawn with the MA5K Carbine. This gun is perfect because of its automatic fire, 45 round magazine and accuracy lieing between the Assault Rifle and Battle Rifle; nobody can complain at this. All players would spawn with a magnum as a sidearm. The MA5K Carbine would have a 2x Scope, but this would not make it overpowered, as its accuracy doesn't prove as pinpoint as the Battle Rifle.
As with all Halo games, the Spartan shields glow orange when taking damage, the Elite/Brute shield will glint blue.
New to Halo is the Combat Knife, Attainable as a pickup item on a map. It is like a piece of equipment that can be used repetitively throughout the player's life, but once killed, the knife is not usable anymore (you must wait for it to respawn on the map). Melee attacks with the knife on shields will cause more damage than hitting with most weapons, but heavier weapons such as Rocket Launcher, Brute Shot, Fuel Rod Gun etc will do more damage than the Combat Knife (which is why the Combat Knife is good to pick up at the start of a game). A melee attack, knife or otherwise, against an unshielded opponent is fatal.
You will move at the same speed as you do normally in Halo 3, and fall damage will return. Jumping will be as it was in Halo 3 too, but as a new feature, accuracy is slightly decreased during a jump.
One last, handy feature you'll gain in the new multiplayer experience is NavPoint Placer. (NPP) is a system that allows any player to point their aimer at a location they can see, and pressing Left on the D-Pad. This will show as a glowing yellow circle visible only to that team. You can only use one NavPoint per 2 minutes, to reduce spamming of NavPoints. Only one NavPoint can be used by a team at once, so all players will recieve a golden arrow point to the NavPoint that one player has placed.
PART 3 - Weapons of Reach (coming soon.....)
