Messin with the Squatch

Hopefully, Bungie will make it so that when you hit a vehicle with a laser, instead of destroy it, it makes a hole the size of the laser shot in the vehicle. It would make the laser require more skill to use such a awesome weapon. For example, maybe Bungie could make it so that if your turret guy gets lasered in a warthog, then the entire turret flies off along with your teammate and you don't die, but you Warthog is damaged and might not move as fast.

Also, if you get shot in the tire, you don't automatically die. The Warthog just become useless, and you lose health. Or if you get shot with a laser on the tip of the Ghost wing then you just fly in large circles.Same with the Banshee or Hornet. You get the idea about how this will work on other vehicles. I know this sounds kind of stupid, but i think it would add a new complication to the game that you have to overcome which will make Reach even more awesome.

They should also add the ability to slightly repair a vehicle. For example, if you get your tire shot off, then you could repair it so that it's just not a useless piece of -blam!-. However, you shouldn't be able to repair something destroyed or unrepairable like four giant holes in the middle of a tank.

Any thoughts on this?

I don't doubt it would make the Laser more tedious than skillful to use.

I dont really like the idea of this.

and the repair thing would be ridiculous. stopping in the middle of a battle to repair a vehicle?

Im sure there wouldnt be the proper tools laying around or spare parts.

I don't see how it requires most skill technially, but like some other guy said repairing a vehicle in the middle of combat? When the hell did a spartan keep a tool kit in his suit?

Keep it classy Flood.

Aim for the hood!

I like this idea upon one consideration; weapons of destruction -- such as tanks -- often store their destructive weapons somewhere inside them. Hit that spot, and destruction of the tank will ensue.

So there should be weakspots on vehicles. Akin to the cap on the left side of Ghosts in Halo 2, and the small turbine just below the cannon on the back of a Wraith tank. Not necessarily visible, either. If they're not visible, a neat alternative would be that there would be a special X-ray vision with the Spartan Laser. When you are charging the shot and aiming at a vehicle, the vehicle will become a VISR-y outlined version of itself, mechanical components within displayed clearly at every angle using strong colours. It'd be neat to look at and keep the Spartan Laser interesting to use.

At least, I think so. Assuming Bungie could pull that off.
