I think water maps would be a great idea for halo reach. If you have something to add or think something is bad please tell me.

Scenery:
There should be some land where you respawn and walk if you don't have a vehicle. There should be be tons of water so you can fights other vehicles. You should also be able to forge bridges in any way you want. You should also be able to forge walls and things like that and it will float in the water.
Getting around:
You should be able to use vehicles in the water to get to other places and to fight in the water. If you jump into the water you die. There should also be forgable bridges and teleporters that you could use in case there are no vehicles.
Vehicles:
The vehicles that should be allowed (I think) are:
1. Any vehicles that don't touch the ground when they move. (like ghosts)
2. Water vehicles
3. Air vehicles
There should be some water vehicles that are kind of on the big side and go fast, but have no weapons on them. These could be used to get to other places through the water. People should also be able to stand on these vehicles and shoot and move like they normally do.
Weapons and equipment:
The weapons should be the same as on a normal map.
There should be special equipment like:
1. water mines (that float on water so you can see them)
2. Little bombs that can put a water vehicle a little off course.
All regular equipment should be able to work on water

lucky member no.999 of SAS Halo3

sounds good for ctf more teamwork

The idea is sound, but water vehicles don't exactly fit the Canon.

The UNSC fly to where they want to go. If they can't fly because of anti-air, they use drop pods. There really isn't any need for boats in the future. Same for the Covenant. Why use boats when you can fly?

What if they want to go underwater? I'm not saying that should be in the map, but it would be a reason to have water vehicles. And they don't get unlimited air vehicles or the entire halo 1 2 and 3 we could just fly everywhere.

Yes, it could allow for great gameplay and variety within map, canon or not.
(Halo jetski races in forge...lol)

Were it so easy.

Yeah great idea, you should be able to go underwater, and be hidden from the radar maybe aswell? Well if you shoot you wouldn't be, but yeah.

Radar + Orbital Strike = Dead Subs.

And you do pretty much fly from area to area on all the Halo games. Except for maybe Halo 2.

Sorry, I can't hear them over the sounds of Modern Warfare 3 on my Turtle Beaches.

I thought Longshore was going to be a tropical, water map but we got an old industrial dock. I was a bit upset. Even the name, Longshore... when I first heard it, I thought of the Kashyyyk: Docks map from Star Wars: Battlefront.

Last Resort doesn't even count as a tropical, water map, you mainly fight in a deserted factory.

Bungie seems to stray from water maps.

In the campaign in H3 on the first level there was water you could jump into. They just need to make it that you die when you jump into it.

I already knew that. Didn't you die when you fall in the water?

I pushed a Jackal into the water and he died, I pushed the Arbiter in, he lived.

When I went under the water I lived. Master chief can probably breath underwater.

My thoughts exactly.

That's why it could be a cool new thing for reach.

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

Are you suggesting a map that you could fall off, but instead of falling off, there is water, where water vehicles can roam?

And you could put items on the water, but pretty much ya

Hm. I'm unsure, but I'd certainly like to try it.

  • 08.27.2009 8:31 AM PDT

I don't think it would be that hard for bungie to do. It could be like the sky part of sandbox, but instead of the boxes there would be water.

I could live with that. I was always against water maps, but that seems like a good idea for me. If you fell into the water, you would die, but you could board vehicles and use them.

Perhaps not for the built in maps, but they could try it in a map pack.

I don't see a difference.

Ashes of the Innocent.

I have always wanted a Halo map with great scenery. Water, fire, anything that spices it up. It just adds to the drama of playing.

  • 08.27.2009 8:56 AM PDT

This kid's 14th in Europe. Don't even bother calling me bad.

As has been said before, water maps wouldn't work. The only UNSC water vehicles that I can think of are the dingies on Longshore.

  • 08.27.2009 9:21 AM PDT

The UNSC does have a Wet Navy (See Arto fo Halo 3) but the maps probably wouldn't work, but a river in the middle of a map with a light bridge/gondala would be cool
