I made this thread to see how many people have actually read the books because most of the people who come up with the stupid theories are the ones who havn't read the books.

If you have only read some of the books, and not all of them, state which ones you have read.

No, and i don't plan too. Never been a fan of books written about games and movies. I prefer to experience the story in the way it was meant to be, with Halo its through gameplay.

Short films like Landfall however would be cool. Would work better than a Halo feature film.

The Halo games do not give much info about the universe and the books are very important if you want to fully understand the games. The books are also very well written.

For the Halo universe i have Halopedia for that. I just don't feel i would enjoy them because i know what i can do in the game and that will probably contrast what is displayed in the book.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

-Thanks to Rocket Turtle for pointing out my typing follies.

i would consider it a disservice to myself as a student of literature to read the halo books. i think that the equally brilliant worlds of books and games should never mix.

I wish I was still legendary.

Fall of Reach, First Strike and The flood. More than enough to know what happened on Reach to one particular group of Spartans.

I have read all except Contact Harvest and the Cole Protocol.

Halo: Out with a whimper
A fan made kick ass 2D Halo.

"The crunch on Halo 2 was, 'Oh my god, we're f***ed. We're all going to die.'" ~ Chris Carney

Yes. I'm not sure how canonical I could consider the book Reach though. I think it came along a bit too early before the Halo universe started to get fully fleshed out so if the game follows the book it will be more like a redesign of the story with some parts changed for both story and gameplay reasons.

for ace

Read all of the novels, and Halo graphic novel.

All books are fully canonical. The game will probably not just follow the battle on Reach because the battle was very short.

Keep it Clean.

Halo: Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood, Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, Halo: Contact Harvest, Halo: Cole Protocol. Ü

Its been a long time since i've read Reach but i remember (not a very good memory to go on XD) it basicly saying that up untill the reach invasion no one had seen any other covenant other than grunts. Something which has already been displaced by Contact Harvest etc..

What a helpful comment.
I've read them all apart from The Cole Protocol. They are good reads.

Ashes of the Innocent.

Mhmm favorite ones are Fall of Reach and The Flood. Just so much more emotion in them. And way way more action packed.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Only one book was about the game, all the other books are completely separate parts of the story. So you are REALLY missing out.

Through the Books you can learn what happened at harvest, witness a battle at The Rubble, see the past of Master Chief and where he was between Halo CE and Halo 2 (How he got back to Earth). Also you can see the Spartan III Project and know where all the surviving Spartan IIs other than Master Chief ended up.

This kid's 14th in Europe. Don't even bother calling me bad.

Any one else think that the fall of reach was the best?

My favorite is Cole Protocol, it has the most accurate and in-depth representation of the Sangheili so far.

Other than that, I liked Ghosts of Onyx.

I can also find out what happened at Harvest here

I also go by the opinion that if you've experienced something visually, you ruin the text iteration, because you can't imagine anything. I refrain from seeing ANY movie based on games or books because they simply RUIN it.

No they don't. I love being able to read the books and know what everything looks like. Halopedia is usually a good source for Halo info, but reading the books just makes you feel like you're part of the action when you're reading it and it's just epic to see the backstories of the other Spartans and or how Thel Vadam became the Arbiter.
