Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Looking for an infection game, PM me.

Currently on a temp account "spleenharvGOLD", which also has an awesome K/D :P

Got Halo 2 Vista and installed it today - installation all went smoothly, but when I try to run the game, it changes my resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024x768, gets to "press any key" and freezes. After leaving it for a while it just closes.
I can't figure it out at all... all my drivers are up-to-date, latest patches/LIVE installed, map editor installs fine too - but it just freezes at the "press any key screen", as I mentioned before.
I hear microsoft support are useless for this, so anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

3GB DDR2-667
Asus M3A-770
AMD Athlon X2 5000+ 2.6ghz/1.15v
PNY 8800gt 256mb (190.62 WHQL drivers)
Western Digital 160gb (caviar blue IIRC)

Is 32bit OS - I don't see how it could be a problem with my PC, as I tried a mate's copy on it before buying it and that worked fine. I've tried torrenting halo2.exe and loading.bin as they're throwing errors up in the event manager, no luck:

hmm... well this is a funky error.
why would it be blocking access if you are running as admin.

I Don't have a clue... odd thing is, I tried it on a backup PC running XP (had to install the XP crack for it to run though) - not one problem.
