Subject: Project Natal, good or bad?

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

campaign puzzles for sure.

Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow.
Defeat is merely the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved...but you imposed.

It is not something I look forward to at all. If they do incoperate Natal into it, it better be optional. I bought an xbox, not a wii.

I wanted a gumball so I said "Yo devil you got change for a soul?"Satan appeared and said "Yeah, yeah mosuckra! I got yo change right here just sign this contract and I'll give you your quarters!" So I signed it, lost my soul, and got 4 quarters. I have never regretted this decision.

I make coups, they are fun to make. Want me to make you one? Just ask I'll see what I can do.

Let's just say I'd rather use a controller in Halo, and not an aerobic exercise routine.

Have you played a racing game on wii that uses the wii racing wheel? It is terrible when you need to make precision changes. Metroid Prime 3 is a fantastic shooter on the wii, but as another guy mentioned that is becuase it uses a controller as an IR pointer, and it works very well. With natal there would be no point of reference (hypothetically of course). Unless they are going to put something in your hands for the camera system to reference, how precise do you think you can be with natal?

Well have to see what happens, but I still believe that something like natal doesn't fit in games that require precision.

Can you elaborate as to what "precision changes" are?
For your other point, your reference point is how you hold your hands. When you hold them up that is your reference point (I guess).

Bad. If I wanted motion control, I would play the Wii.

How can you drive without a steering wheel? Natal did it, somehow.

I'm interested in seeing how Natal will work with Reach. I'm not sure WHAT they do, but Bungie ain't stupid. They WOULD attempt to make it hardcore-player-friendly (I hope)

  • 08.29.2009 10:38 PM PDT

I hope you get lupus

man some days when I play video games i want to turn off my xbox live turn off the lights sit on the couch be left alone and play. If I'm sick or pissed off about something I just want to veg out and get lost in the game and it seems that natal would prevent me from doing that and that sucks. If I can't be lazy in my down time when can I be?

Using natal to fire, run and jump would be annoying ._.

Assuming the control scheme will be 1:1. And that's a big IF.

I can't see Natal doing well.
The Xbox 360 is filled with the "hardcore" crowd and since most of them think the Wii is a baby's toy, they'll think that Project Natal is trying to appeal to the "casual" crowd and, well, not buy it.

As for the technology itself, I have no idea how good it'll work with an FPS. Seems interesting, though.

Oh and for the people saying "NO REACH SHOULD NOT USE NATAL AT ALL!!!!" , just don't buy Natal and use an Xbox controller, simple as that.

  • 08.30.2009 12:08 AM PDT

it's obvius that natal wont be used to shoot or move, it will most likely be used like voice commands in tom clancy's endwar, a cool extra, but this time it won't be usable every second, probably just a few times to make it more fun, and there will obviusly be an option to turn it off.
EDIT: nvm i just saw wut natal is going to be like. idk how this will work, but most likely, it will be the same as i posted before the edit

well i dnt think natal will be used with games like halo because if u turned ur head to look then u will be turning and looking away from the screen. i think it will be used for shooters like old style arcade games were u just aim on the screen infront of u and the game turns ur head for u

Those are called "on rails shooters," and Reach can work with Natal in a true FPS environment. Problems like the one you stated above can easily be solved with a little ingenuity.

Hell no. Reason number one: My friends and I don't have enough space in our rooms for natal. I mean my Xbox 360 is RIGHT in front of my bed and there would be no room whatsoever for me to stand up ( or make the motions of pulling a trigger, throwing a grenade, or anything else that will require precision) Reason number two: Natal is not going to be perfect so why should we depend a faulty motion tracker to portray our FPS skills ( not that I'm one to talk about skill XD )

Name: Danielle.19 yrs old.

I'm sure Natal might have potential but i will just say it...NO!! I love using a controller....that is that and Halo won't be the same without the controller.....so No to Reach on Natal....Microsoft is copying Wii neways nd i very much dislike the Wii....V ERY much!!!! Reach for XBOX 360!!! NOTE THAT!!!! XBOX 360 ONLY!!!!!

I dont like natal. I think it's another way for people to pay money to microsoft since you need to buy a eyecam thing or something like that so it can read your movement. Come on this war with the wiii is getting out of hand lol get it.
*dun dun tshhh!*

Project natal might be cool but project natal+Halo Reach=fail almost gauranteed.
