I don't cater to pity.
(The majority of true MLG pros are good people, we could call this "injecting some competition into their games").

I dont want your pity
all my point is what about people who are too sick to use natal? or who are injured? besides this is gonna give more ammo to jack thompson and his ilk who say violent video games are responsible for violence in schools

How is an amputee (arm) going to use a controller? They don't. I know this is harsh, there is really no way around it (unless they make handicap control schemes).

Don't worry about that organization. There is no proof linking video games to extreme violence.

Im talking about muscular diseases where they cant move their arms but can move fingers or a broken arm that all you can move is your fingers
and about the evidence part...
"that is merely logic and people are not moved by logic" at least people like jack thompson and his ilk.

Natal should be in Reachs campaign, and that's it.
I highly disagree because i want the classic halo feel not some new -blam!-.

Have you ever heard of the word OPTIONAL?

Please shut up sir. (Sorry to sound like an ass, but seriously.)

You didn't say optional.

okay I'll bite what are your solutions?

Switching weapons- reach for your waist or back if it's shoulder mounted.
Grenades- over handed throw.
Equipment- throw from your chest outwards.
Melee- punching motion.
Jump- you don't actually have to jump, just make the up and down motion and your character will jump.
Pick up bomb- reach downwards for the bomb and walk around like you're carrying a bomb.
Pick up flag- walk around like you're holding a flag.
Zoom- hold your weapon up.
Crouch- crouch.
Any more?
(btw for the person a few posts above, I don't see the hate in that reply).

I dont like natal. I think it's another way for people to pay money to microsoft since you need to buy a eyecam thing or something like that so it can read your movement. Come on this war with the wiii is getting out of hand lol get it.

Didn't Sony have the EyeToy already?

Anyways, I don't really want Natal for Halo. It would be similar to Metroid with the Wii-Remote and Nunchuck...

hold weapon up? as opposed to what? and what weapon? I don't want to have to buy a big hunk of plastic video games themselves cost too much so I dont want to have to buy a bunch of over-priced chunks of plastic
the jump thing wouldnt work because if you nod or sneeze or if you look up and down (to aim) too quickly you would jump
the grenade thing would hard to aim
and crouching? its kinda hard to crouch and move it hurts your legs like hell and gives you a charlie horse when you get up

It's basically a knock off from the eye toy from the PS2. Just better sensors and tech.

Like you're looking down the sights (I know spartans don't actually do that}
I don't want to have to buy a big hunk of plastic video games themselves cost too much so I dont want to have to buy a bunch of over-priced chunks of plastic
Think before you type.
the jump thing wouldnt work because if you nod or sneeze or if you look up and down (to aim) too quickly you would jump
It would be a slightly dramatic motion. I'm pretty sure no one jumps when they sneeze, or even goes up and down (besides, you could pause the motion control (in my Natal fantasy world) before you sneeze).
the grenade thing would hard to aim
It would be just like all Halo games. You just have to aim your crosshair where you want to throw, make the throwing motion, and your Spartan will throw it (the grenade throw will be maximum velocity no matter how fast you pitch the motion, just like in Halo)
and crouching? its kinda hard to crouch and move it hurts your legs like hell and gives you a charlie horse when you get up Toggle crouch. Just make the motion to crouch and your spartan will crouch, you can stand up without going out of crouch.

The car was a knockoff of the carriage. Just faster and better tech.

I think this is going to be a ground-breaking technology. It won't work very well at first for very many games, but it has a -blam!-load of potential. The first cars were probably overtaken by cripples (hyperbole). It will be interesting to see how they incorporate the Natal into a FPS, and who knows? Maybe it will work. Probably won't, but you never know.

I just like the idea of walking slowly along through a forest; my trusty battle rifle in hand, grenades on my belt, a shotgun strapped to my back. I see something. Quickly I raise my rifle to my eye; there's a Grunt in my scope. Quickly I pull the trigger, spraying his blue matter all over a tree. An Elite suddenly jumps out ahead of me, another behind me. An ambush! Quickly I grab a stickie and my shotgun, pumping a shell in the face of one, sticking the grenade on the chest of the other. The purple blood is everywhere! It's everywhere!! EVERYWHERE!!! I try to open a door but I can't, because there's TOO MUCH BLOOD ON THE HANDLE!!!!!

Hmmfff, sorry. Got carried away for a bit there. Just ignore that second paragraph.

Yar-har!

I'm quite a bit iffy on this one.

It seems like you would have to pay a little more just to have the Natal thing if it's a requirement for Halo: Reach.

I know Bungie won't screw anything up if Natal features are utilized. They never have with any of their games (besides the very minor and insignificant bugs). However, it just doesn't seem like something that would fit nicely into a First Person Shooter game and it could possibly force people into buying Natal (if they weren't already planning on it).

  • 08.31.2009 10:42 PM PDT

What if they just used it for a mini game? Like using a rouge grunt in some crazy mishaps. Or somthing like that anyways.

Even if Natal is implemented with Halo: Reach, Microsoft already stated that the entire thing is optional. You can use controllers, or Natal.

  • 09.01.2009 1:13 AM PDT

I say natal is a great idea, but I seriously hope halo reach doesn't use natal. That means that I have to buy another expensive box just to play a new halo game!

@ person above me: Thanks.

Using Natal for the best exclusive shooter microsoft has?!
It will mean the end of the console war between the Xbox and the Playstation for sure...

I'm pretty certain that you don't have to just use Natal for the whole game. You probably play using the controller and some parts you have the option of using the motion sensing capabilities. But that would make me wonder, if that's so, wouldn't you have to drop the controller? They can't assume everyone plays sitting down, what if they're standing while playing? Maybe they'll make a strap for the controller like they did for the Wii.

It'll be cool catching the coin using Natal, but I'm not sure if MC was that young during Reach. Maybe you can catch grenades and toss them back as well.

Best maps and videos in HQ and HD:

Youtube account: chaimtwee (HQ)
Youtube account: Halo3QualityVideos (HD)

Check them out.

But remember.
They didn't say what Natal has to offer for Reach.
Maby Bungie is only gonna use the voice option or very simple movements, like doing puzzles with moving your arms and/or hands.

Maby they online use the voice option, so you can ''give orders'' or do actions like reloading or jumping just by saying the word.
