The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

Ahh, see the way you pronounce it sounds a lot like in the word we use in Swedish for when your nose is dripping.

And ODST is 10-20 minutes away from me. Can't wait.

And thanks. =)

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

Best Halo game ever, quite short but so fun. I did it on Heroic and it was fairly hard.

Firefight on Normal, Crater...easiest thing ever, I actually sat there for 4 hours and then I had to go to sleep so I just ramo'd myself to death.

Got to the seventh set.

So yeah, some Heroic and rest of the day Firefight, I'm telling you this for sure, I'm no touching Normal EVER again, I had 10 lives left when I had to go and it took me like 4 rounds to get rid of them by doing kamikaze.

Oh and Tyrant...we've got new enemies to deal with too, not just the Engineer...I can't imagine how the Drones will be on Mythic. *Shivers*

Some parts are gonna be pretty tough on Mythic TBH. I'm tempted to start it up on Mythic tomorrow. But I know without better map and weapon knowledge I'd just be walking into frustration.

As a general question, what are we considering to be "Mythic" ODST. Each of the 8 Missions complete? or completing the Mombasa streets bit as well? Mombasa streets as well could get complicated when you can do the missions in any order...

BTW Plasma turrets seem to do nothing against hunters now. That sucks.

General comment: ODST having the same fileshare as Halo 3 is both stupid and mean. The two aren't interoperable at all so it makes no sense to have them use the same space.

Final point: optican restores both Stamina and Health.

So, not sure if I've drawn first blood or not...but...

I just completed Upkeep Reserve on Mythic. Second try.

I'll provide a link to game stats once the game shows up...and File Share later - but hey, if I was the first one to complete a mission on Mythic, I may have actually beaten Pahat to something!

You are a beast. Seriously. Every level in this game is so much more difficult compared to Halo 3. I'm going to be doing a lot of studying later on. For now, I'm relaxing. Just going to enjoy some ODST, become more familiar with the campaign and game.

Not a bad plan at all. My main contribution to Mythic and the leading factor to why I could complete Armed Conformist and Misanthrope was my innovation. The path for Mythic on ODST is not laid out before me this time, and, in a sense, I just dropped in.

With blood drawn, I continued my attack on the fiend. Tayari Plaza down on Mythic. The level is...short, but the main reason why it's still tough is something Tyrant was mentioning to me earlier: ammo. There is so little ammo for the Pistol that it's difficult to make it past the area with the first sniper. Once I had that out of the way, I let my caution kick in and took it easy, thinking of ways to deal with the inevitable problem I'd be facing.

Tips for Tayari Plaza: The Brutes can track you through buildings. If you hear a Brute say anything about going in after you (you as in...you), get out of the building through another exit. Also, make every headshot count.

Notes about Upkeep Reserve and in general: I don't know if boarding counts for melee anymore.

Game stats for Tayari Plaza will be added when they show up. Film later on.

I've got to keep my edge somehow, people.

I'm focusing more on achievements and the new stuff at the moment.

Speaking of those, I didn't see a single Flamethrower in the game. One of the achievements....I gotta find one.

ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

I've been trying out Uplift Reserve and Tayari Plaza as well. I usually get up to the main area in Reserve and the first sniper point in Plaza, but from there on it's fairly difficult.

I don't think that we'll need to do Mombasa Streets though, considering it's more of a HUB world than anything. Only the flashback levels and the late game levels should count.

  • 09.23.2009 3:22 AM PDT

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

I've tried Tayari Plaza twice now on Mythic. I've made it to the first sniper both times, but there's seriously not enough ammo for the pistol around, and the Carbine I picked up ran out of ammo fast...

I was wondering where the Flamethrower was as well.

Once things get icy on Data Hive, check around by one of the locked doors after a long tunnel.

I know that's vague, but that's where I found it.

Yeah, were things get icy, clear out the enemies, and head straight on at the junction you usually turn right at. Its on the right near the back wall.

Holy f***ing asscrackers on f***ing toast!

You're right Vincent, it's in the icy chambers, right by the locked door at the end of one of the halls. To be more specific, when you're going through the level, look for the part where the left door is locked, the right side is a hall going down, and the back end is another hall, by the locked door behind a glass wall is the gun. If you need another example, it's 2 rooms before DARE.

Nice Vince. Btw, isn't it called Uplift reserve?

Found the Flamethrower too, before I checked here.

How bout this though, how am I supposed to get 10 kills with 2 rocket shots for the achievement?

  • 09.23.2009 12:37 PM PDT

If you can get 10 for 2, that's a pretty good shot. Luckily, there are plenty of Rocket Launchers to be found before you go talk with Dutch. I found a Marine with a Rocket Launcher near the beacon that triggers the mission (while playing as Mickey, I mean), as well as Rocket Ammo on the roof.

To the left of the building is another hallway you can go through leading to more Rocket ammo. There will be a Brute and some Grunts that come out of there initially.

If you would like to know more about Mythic difficulty please go to this thread. Thank you.

Please do not send me "recruitment messages" as I'm not interested in joining any groups currently.

Just finished Legendary and gotta say: Wow! This game is amazing, I don't think I've enjoyed a game this much in years, gratz to Vince for already starting Mythic, I'll soon be joining you after I get to grips with Firefight for a while (Lost Platoon FTW).
My favourite missions so far are NMPD HQ and ONI Alpha Site. Coastal Highway was great apart from the sheer amount of enemies and Buck's less than stellar gunning with the regular 'hog, but the ending and epilogue were very good.

All in all I feel that although I've been challenged facing the unknown on Legendary, ODST has a lot more to offer as far as Mythic is concerned. I'm looking forward to see what's going to be coming into this thread over the next few weeks and months. Good hunting everyone. :-)

EDIT: Just gotta gripe about Engineers for a moment, from what I've seen there doesn't seem to be anything that's easy toa ccess which is actually effective against them.
Also whoever decided to give Drone Majors shields and Jackals Needlers is quite a sadistic man. On the flip side I'm extremely glad that Jackal Snipers aren't a 1 shot kill on Legendary/Mythic anymore (unless Thunderstorm makes them lethal, I'll need to test that).
Hunters are also scary. They're more sporadic this time and come in pairs of Blue/Gold giving them different attack styles which is just annoying. Without heavy weapons I'm glad that they tend to only show up at night time when you can just run.

The jackals are deadly. On legendary, 3 of them in an open area was abosolute death. Nothing to it. I was horrified. Snipers are easier, hunters are slightly weaker I think, and allies were weak as can be. =P
I do however like that all squad mates are invulnerable.

Tyrant already mentioned to me that, even with all skulls on, the Beam Rifle is not a one shot kill...as long as you're at full health.

I feel like ONI Alpha Site is going to be slightly annoying on Mythic. For some reason I always get hit by a Wraith the moment I get told to fall back.

Doing Legendary now and I just finished Romeo's Flashback mission.

I'm really glad that I'm not the Chief anymore because HE would die from one snipe anywhere on Legendary.

I don't know if anyone else (besides Vince) has started Mythic, but at the moment, I'm tied for the lead.

That's right, I managed both Tayari Plaza and Uplift Reserve today, taking Plaza slow and steady and rushing through Reserve as fast as I could.

Tayari Plaza wasn't so hard when I tried it (did it without Blind and Iron) but what really annoys me is the Jackals. I can't make them flinch or anything, they just stay behind their damn shields and keep shooting me, and even if I remove their shields, they put their hands on their heads so headshots become impossible.

  • 09.24.2009 8:58 AM PDT

I found a way for Mombasa Streets to work. If we play it by the longest distance, ONI Alpha Site is the furthest beacon from where you start(900+ m). I just did that and it was a little more of a pain than I was expecting. Engineers take two overcharged shots to kill on Mythic. I'm not sure why, exactly...

I started off getting ambushed by Jackals immediately. And by ambushed, I mean there were two standing right next to where I landed.

I really think we should count Mombasa Streets, though. Consensus?
