When u duel wield, is it possible to hold another weapon, thus making it that u actually are holding 3 weapons, or duz the duel wielding automatically take away from u switching to a different weapon, or duz it just end ur duel wielding when u hit the Y button. EX: U are holding a needler and SMG........u switch to the battle rifle: end of Example. 3 weapons........yes, no, yes?

Yes, you are right. 3 weapon max. I wanna say you must drop your (left handed?) weapon before you can switch weapons to the one "over your shoulder."

When you dual wield you still have a secondary weapon beside the two in your hands, but I think when throw a gernade or switch to the other weapon you drop the dual wield weapon

Can you have say, Duel Needlers, and Duel SMGs "holstered" as your spare? can you change weapons when you duel wield and still keep both weapons?

  • 07.23.2004 6:19 AM PDT

i thought you only dropped your dual weilded weapon when ya melee. therefore, couldn't you hold 4 weapons? two sets of dual weilded guns?

When you pick up the weapon for your left hand, the L trigger switches from nades to that gun. So iirc, you have to hit "Y" to drop that weapon before you can switch to your "third" gun.

I want to know if you can hold to one-handed weapons, and then change to the other weapon, but does the to duel weilded weapons say with you. So you change back and you still got two.

No Four weapons, iirc, it works like this.

You start level with 1 gun.

You walk up to weapon on ground. Press Y to dual, press X to pick up and holster current weapon. If you dual wield, pressing Y will (i think) only drop your lefthanded weapon. If you press X you holster one, pick up the new one. Then you can walk up to another weapon and you get the same promt. Y to dual, X to pick up new weapon and trade out current weapon. No four weapons. Just three.

it's all about if you can have dual weilded guns as your secondary weapon. if we knew that, we would know the answer. does tapping y when your dual weapins are out, to switch to your secondary weapon, make you drop your left hand gun?

as far as we know, there will be 5 weapons max... Grenades are weapons after all...

I think it does. Didn't frankie say you can only holster one weapon at a time? So I think you can only keep one dual wielded gun so that its balanced.

This has always been a point of confusion for people. I certainly hope Bungie clears this up a bit so that newer players can grasp the concept quickly.

The question is: Do you drop your second gun when you change weapon? because if you cant and you start with 2 single handed weapons you could carry 4 weapons, 2 sets of 2 duel wielded. we know you drop weapon if you Nade, Melee, zoom, etc but surely you should be able to throw nade, then get out your duel wielded weapons and charge in!

From what I believe to be true, the instant you switch to a single handed weapon (or your other weapon), you will drop the second gun.... It wasn't thought up at 2003's E3, that's why it didn't happen then....

I am pretty sure that the only way you drop you second weapon ( if your dual weilding) is to press B, it won't melee attack though, it will only drop the weapon, but if press it again you will melee. And if you holster you dual weapons, I'm pretty sure that you keep them holstered. Like if it was slots, you have 1 storage slot. That slot is big enough to hold 1 rocket launcher. Now I'm pretty sure that a single handed weapon would fit two into that slot, so you wouldn't drop your second dual weilded weapon.

From the FAQ

Currently, to dual wield, you simply approach a second weapon that is lying on the ground. You'll see the standard "press X to swap weapons" message appear in your HUD. However, if it's a one handed weapon, you will also see "Press and hold 'Y' to dual wield". If you do that, you will pick up the gun in your left hand. R-trigger fires the right weapon, L-trigger the left. You can't melee attack or throw grenades while dual wielding. You can stop dual wielding at any time by pressing melee attack (discards extra weapon) or by pressing Y to switch to your secondary weapon.

Errr...In a video he demonstrates what happens when you press B. You do a melee attack and throw the left weapon down. So theres no double tapping. Frankie said the max you can have in your possesion is 3. a rifle holstered and 2 pistols dual wielded. Im pretty sure you discard the left weapon when you switch to the rifle but I'm not completely sure.

I would not mind in the end if it is like the E3 2003 build instead of the E3 2004. Because in 2004 you dropped your off hand weapon for everthing, entering a vehicle, using a turret, or picking up the flag. Possibly it may be different between single player and multiplayer.

thx hedwidg for posting info.

think of it this way; the MC doesn't have any extra holster space after having this , the respective tanks and feed-lines hooked up.

Seriuosly, which would you choose?
