Typo, **Boss** fight.

How would we fight a covenant ship?

Hello, Hornets/pelicans!

It would be cool to find a double crossing spartan and fight him=)

since the storyline doesn't allow us to fight the gravemind, prophets, arbiters, scarabs, or anything forerunner... I'll go with the covenant ship even though it won't happen.

gravemind : floods weren't discovered yet.
prophets : at that time, humans didn't even know prophets existed
brutes : will probably not be in reach at all
forerunners : same as floods
arbiter : there wasn't an arbiter at that time. the last arbiter got promoted AFTER reach.
covenant ship : afaik, none was jacked during the battle.
scarab : the planet was glassed anyway... so they probably didn't bother deploying a scarab since it'd be destroyed by the glassing.

I'm pretty sure they knew prophets and forerunners existed, they just didn't know what they looked like. and I'm not sure about there not being an arbiter...

well, the UNSC had a vague idea that the covenants were led by a higher race, but they weren't sure at all.

I'm pretty sure humans never heard of forerunners before. as for the arbiter... it's simple : there is only one arbiter at any given time. so when the elite is made arbiter in H2, there was obviously no other arbiter... and it'd have been a HUGE coincidence if the previous arby died right before the new one was promoted.

I'd just like to point this out:

Flood: Discovered by Spirit of Fire crew during events of Halo wars, but the information was lost with the crew. Also, no mention of Flood in FoR

Prophets: Just b/c humans didn't know much about the prohets doesn't mean a minor prophet couldn't have been on hand during the invasion of Reach. In fact, I would be surprised if there wasn't one on hand to oversee such a huge assault.

Brutes: Yes, the Brutes weren't fielded heavily before H2 and H3, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been a few units around.

Forerunners: If there was one Forerunner facility beneath ONI CASTLE Base, there could be more. It seems odd that the entirety of the complex Fred and his squad explored in First Strike consisted of an underground maze and a single chamber made to house a single crystal. Who knows how far those tunnels extended, the Spartans didn't exactly have time to explore the cavern completely.

Arbiter: Well, yes, there isn't any mention of an Arbiter between Halo Wars and H2. This also brings on the question of if we will be seeing the Elites as enemys again.

Covenant Ship: Entirely Possible, however unlikely. I'm not entirely sure how you would go about fighting an entire ship in a FPS.

Scarab: If you had read the books, you'd know that the Covenant landed a huge occupying force on Reach. Scarabs are a good possibility, seeing as it was originally a digging tool, and the Covies were desperately trying to dig out the Spartans hidden under the ONI base.

Just My seven cents. J7N Out.

OK, the arbiter thing makes sense, but if I remember the books correctly, john and a few other spartans were supposed to kidnap a prophet. I'm still not sure about the forerunners.

They knew about the Forerunners. Trust me, I know.

You could use hornets/longswords to take on scarabs

Either a Scarab or a Capital ship. I hope there is no brutes on Reach. I think a cool "boss" fight would be a Huge Covenant army attacking a barracks or something where you are extremely outnumbered and have to hold your ground until air support support arrives.
