There's a few things in Halo that really irritate me, one of those being lack of headshots with automatic weapons. Why do only the carbine, magnum and battle rifle (and of course, snipers) have the ability to headshot? The snipers have a larger caliber, so it's understandable, but the battle rifle, magnum and carbine make no sense.

What I want in Halo: Reach is for every projectile weapon, with the exception of explosives to be able to headshot. This would make aiming more critical for weapons such as the plasma rifle and assault rifle. Gone are the days of assault rifle "noobs". It would also make them more deadly, like they used to be in Halo 1.

At the very least I want the plasma pistol to have the ability to headshot in Halo: Reach. The Halo 3 plasma pistol is a joke, taking 19 shots to kill somebody, while the magnum kills in 5 shots. Make the plasma pistol a deadly weapon, not a glorified nailgun.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

1 : why use a burst shot weapon (br) if an automatic rifle can kill in 1 shot to the head too?
2 : PP and PR takes 19 hits to kill, not 26
3 : just buff plasma weapons, for god's sake... nobody use them.

Check out my deviantART page

Some things I like:
Video Games
Anime
Art

Adding more headshot capable weapons would increase the skill gap between good players and bad ones, I'm all for that.

~the falcon doesn't hunt just to kill, but to survive~

The snipers have a larger caliber, so it's understandable, but the battle rifle, magnum and carbine make no sense.

you do realize that the battle rifle and magnum are both higher calibers than any of the automatic weapons, right? that the reason why it's called a magnum is because it's high caliber? and the definition of a battle rifle is a long range high caliber assault weapon.

and the carbine is there just to give the covenant a headshot weapon as well.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

that the reason why it's called a magnum is because it's high caliber?

"magnum" refers to the length of the cartridge, not the caliber. Caliber refers to the diameter of the round.

For example, there is the .38 caliber cartridge, and the .357 caliber magnum cartridge.
A firearm chambered for .357 can fire .38 because they are the same effective diameter, the Magnum just has more powder behind the bullet.

The plasma pistol takes 26 shots to kill. Plasma Rifles are 19.

Headshots should give some bonus for every weapon.

Making every weapon a "headshot" weapon would be bad for balance.

Instead of the current non-headshot weapons instantly killing an unshielded opponent, they should deal double damage.

Example:
H3 AR: 16 rounds to kill, 10 shields 6 body shots.
H:R AR:
13 or 16 rounds to kill. 10 shields, 3 headshots or 6 body shots, or whatever combination results in a death.

H3 Non-Headshot weapons:
AR
Plasma Pistol
SMG
Spiker
Plasma Rifle
Mauler
Needler
Brute Shot

yeah, i guess i was mistaken
but what i was trying to get at was the fact that the M6G magnum in halo is a 12.7mm round compared to the assault rifle's 7.62mm, which is a huge difference in caliber

Or for more tasty numbers, .50 cal and .30 cal.
