What happened to the Precursors?

Probably consumed by the flood. And This theory works nicely with mine. It can also explain "Reclaimer" in a way much more meaningful than just to reclaim what was the Forerunners.(See "Halo 4, in plain sight. V 1.1 REVISED!)

My point is that we don't know. "Probably" does not make a very good theory. Just imagine Einstein submitted E probably equals MC squared.......

The Precursors were Tier 0, they may have simply moved to another galaxy, they may have simply died out, they may have evolved beyond the physical realm for all we know. There's too much we don't know, you can make up any theory if you go "I reckon...." without decent solid backup.

For example; I reckon the Precursors were aliens that were 10 light years tall and ate stars for food.

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

BLOODY BRILLIANT!

I think being consumed is most likely for no particular reason. But if you read my Halo 4 theory it state they might have embarked on a "great journey". And there is nothing to support anything about the Precursors what so ever. Thats the problem.

this is real great. but in the second book spark said chief sould get stronger armor(paraphrasing) and in the third game the movie mode rite before you lazer spark he blatently states chief is forrunner decendent. just poitn things out. So that would indicate we are evolving similarly to the forrunners. Time travle theory has a pausability. some theororize that black holes act kind of like worm holes. They could also be somthing like a tear in the space time continum. get sucked in and you could end up in a different time or a parallel universe.

Both forrunner and humanity could be sibling races. If the precursors were fadeing and we decended from them then how can we use the forrunner stuff. Precursors were across the galexy and it just happens that earth is the only planet inhabited. What if earth just devolved faster. Forrunners still had space travle or devolved different. This could explain the similairities and differences. When we started making tech breakthroughs again we had to develope in much the same way. In the second book spark makes a comment on cheifs mark armour.why he was in a weak modle when they were fighing the flood and that he should get stronger. This could also be why he said chief really is the decedant of forerunner. sience we were basically the same how would the rampant spark know the difference.

Anybody need a lucky driver?

There is so much to the forerunner story. When they are on oynx a sentinel talks to them in a couple different languages. At first it seems alien, then hes talks in latin, then finally english. Did it figure out their language by hearing the young spartan talk or did it already knw all the languages that humans would create? The forerunners made engineers, could they have made humans? (unlikely) Also, according to the bestiarum, humans are not reclaimers, only the spartans are (-blam!- sapiens augeous). At least thats how i understood it. However, ur theory is likely, just throwing out thoughts.

Ah, the wanton speculation of Halopedia, how I love it. There's no proof whatsoever that the Spartans are the reclaimers in the bestarium. It wouldn't make sense, considering that Miranda Keyes and a random marine in Halo: CE were identified as Reclaimer.

Perhaps it simply means that the Reclaimer side of a human is dormant until they come into contact with the Flood or a piece of Precursor/Forerunner technology.

Neat theory, but (unless I missed something, because I am rushing and have to go soon), wouldn't the "You are Forerunner." line kind of destroy this theory?

According to the Bestarium, all of Spark's observations are under investigation. He may have simply reasoned that, since humanity were the only ones who could activate Halo, then they must be Forerunners. But I'm saying that they were Precursors, and since the Forerunners probably based their technology off of the Precursors, then it would explain why humanity, as the Precursor descendants, could activate them.

hahah yea i did read that off halopedia. It doesnt make sense tho. What are humans called in contact: harvest? either reclaimers or holy relics i think. Does anyone know when we will actually find out? reach?

I made a new thread for my comment cuz it is very long...

Wolverfrog has an excellent theory here that I expand on and give my own thoughts on. I would have posted it here but it got so long and I liked my ideas and I didn't want it to get lost in pages of comments on this thread.

Harvest and Reach were the first to go and reach was home to the spartains we learn more as we go a long. So it would have to be after the third game i say.

Also the theory that the flood came because the precursors were to intelligent advanced watever could be sound but then y didnt they die off when the precursors faded. THus we and the forrunners have to both be decendants.

Harvest was the first human planet to fall to the Covenant, but Reach didn't fall until 25 years into the war. Reach was the UNSC Military HQ. It fell right before the events of Halo CE.

So? Precursor essentially means 'To come before', as does 'Forerunner.'

Well, this may be slightly or even way off your topic, but what if precursers were god? Here's one of my other posts:

Because Modern humans were around from 250 000BC, Precurser's may have taken humans and accelerated their technological advancement and made them Teir 1 Forerunners. This is because over 150 000 years if there were forerunner, they have to have done something.
The forerunner-flood war was happening in Circa 100 000BC.
