let's not forget that Halo is a first person shooter not a first person team based flying/shooting game. I think bungie is going to keep the auxilary entertainment basic and stick to nailing the fundamentals...
Wouldn't a plasma saber fall under "auxilary entertainment?" It's not even a "shooting" weapon so in many ways it's much further from being a realistic, plausible element of Halo 2 than my notion of a two-seated human aerial craft which has a rear mounted gun. That being said, I don't care for the idea of the plasma sword because its really superfluous to the gameplay of Halo. Melee attacks are peripheral elements and should be treated as such. Shooting is the main incentive for Halo fans, whether it's from vehicle or on foot.
