Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"
For me it was the first console shooter that I played that actually brought the smooth feel of a PC shooter (sorry, I hated Golden Eye). The tight gameplay, integration of vehicles, fantastic environments, great scripting and music, and the challenging enemies had me from the start and kept me for a long time.
Add to that a MP component that actually rewarded those who had aim, and took the time to learn how to use every weapon. Halo was pretty much the only xbox game I played for a long time, and we used to LAN nearly every weekend with at least 10-16 people. It got to the point where we even held a large tournament down here, with about 100 in attendance (it was big for us, were were still in highschool, with no sponsor or money from parents!)
Halo was one of those games that did everything right. It's always funny to hear people criticise it's graphics (it's nearly a decade old for crying out loud) and it's recycling of levels. Considering that without Halo the xbox would more than likely have gone the way of the Dreamcast, I think it's safe to say that it is most likely one of the most impactful games in the last 15 years, certainly the most in it's genre for the last two console generations.
