Halo 3 has some good music, they went overkill on the epic music, most it was Halo CE music, with only Leonidas, Broken gates, and In Amberclad being remixed, though it was innesessary, (One Final Effort is more of Truth and Reconciliation remix than Unyielding) which is sad, considering Halo 2 had incredible music.

One thing that Halo 2 music had over the other halo's, was ambience, and variety of songs,

Heck, I still enjoy levels like Sacred Icon, listening to the constant hum of the machinery in the sentinel wall, going through the dark and creepy infected wall, with sounds of still operating machinery, with distant cries from the surrounding flood, and suddenly, after running and fighting my way through the darkness, I come out to a open platform, and the change from the flood ambience, to the sound of wind from the gray sky, with the Library in the distance......

For me, Halo 2 will always be a great game with incredible music.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

I personally preferred the halo 2 music. The music blended perfectly with the campaign. It brought it alive and it matched perfectly with the settings in the campaign. In the Halo 3's music they went a bit overboard in trying to make it as epic as possible and not have it in sync with the storyline perfectly.

You're completely right. Halo 3 did have a very good soundtrack, but it really just doesn't compare to Halo 2's. As Kasith said, they went a bit too heavy on making the soundtrack "epic" in Halo 3. Halo 2's was just perfect: it was quiet, easy and simple, yet it was still somehow just perfect. I used to love traversing the landscape on the Delta Halo levels, and the calming background music just made it so much better. Halo 2 was a beautiful game, both visually and audibly.

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

I like how well the music coordinates with the game better in Halo 2. In Halo 3 you just don't notice the music as much, and it ruined a lot of the epic feel I got from Halo 1 and Halo 2.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Music doesn't always have to have guitars.

THANK YOU!

Those are pretty much the exact same words I use when people ask me that question, and I always ramble on about Sacred Icon.

Halo 2's music shows variety, from ambient to rock and it's always a constant thrill ride whilst playing the missions. Halo 3's tracks are mostly remixed, they're good but it's not Halo 2.

Hahah, agreed, Sacred Icon is a incredibly well designed level, hah, those golden sentinels are incredible, and their weapons are always fun to use.

However, I just can't get over on the fact, while the cool Sentinel Enforcers were supposed to be replaced in halo 3 by Sentinel Guardians, (it looks identical to a creature from the marathon series) bungie remove the Sentinel Majors, while replacing them with some pathetic forerunner turret.

(They could have still kept the golden sentinels, with the turrets, but again, I guess bungie wanted the game to have as much of a halo 1 feel as possible. -_-)

Besides that, I also loved what bungie did with halo 2's music, they did go bit out of their way with some songs, but they turned out to be great, and memorable, who can honestly hate the song, Reclaimer?

I liked H2's music better.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I enjoyed listening to the music in Halo 2 while I killed things. In Halo 3, it's just sort of a background fill.
