Noob, Newbie, N00b, and any other variants on the word newb are hereby banned from use on this forum. Any user who violates this rule will be put to death.

Ah the words of the wise Forum Ninja known as stosh. I'm wondering why this isn't true. People use this deragatory term very frequently on the Bungie forums and it is very annoying. Personally, I feel like any one who uses this word is who has no life besides these forums. I understand that the moderators cannot monitor every thread, but even ones with those words in the title are allowed to survive. Anyway I would just like an explanation. Also please don't reply with negitave comments about the Bungie mods and and staff. I have great respect for these people, mainly because they have to put up with people trashing their years of blood sweat and tears to bring us games of the highest quality.

I agree that its just foolish for people to use those terms. I just laugh at people when they call me a nub during a game. Its so childish and inmature for people to use those terms.

Because sometimes its actually true. Some people who've joined like 9 months ago ask questions that they should know. They are acting like noobs.

To me noob can mean many things. Such as you suck, you're bad, you don't know how to play, etc.

True, however it is clearly stated in the forum rules that use of that word isn't allowed.

It's not allowed because it's used in a derogatory manner 99% of the time.

MadWhiteFish, with an A for the 4 and an E for the 3.

You are not a 16. You are not a 25. You are not a 30, and you are not a damn 43. You are a person, and you sound like a moron.

Much like "-blam!-", but for that crappy reason, it isn't censored. Dumb, eh?

Don't be use -blam!-.

Not in a derogatory fashion.

But my uncle is -blam!-. I can say that.

-blam!- is misused by the same kind of people that use the word N***. Idiots.

Hmm - 10 mods, 1,000,000 users.

Answer your question?

B.net should probably consider getting more ninjas if they plan to cover that many members. I never noticed how oddly proportioned the ratio of mods to members were.

I was considering taking my 100,000 members out for pizza. But the delivery guy just laughed and hung up the phone.

What!? No free pizza? This is an outrage! I demand food at other people's expense!

People use it to sound cool. Or just a fad like me, so when you go to your friends house you say "and these noobs like sat beside the explosive plasma conduits on midship and planted a grenade at their feet" when you could say idiot.

If someone is a newbie then you help them and answer their questions. If the person who comes first in a game calls the person who's second a noob when there are 16players then... well... it doesn't make sense.

Also when you see a really high level and they call you a noob for having bad rank you call them a nerd and say they have no life ouside the game... simple

What is it with these filtering threads? This word hurts my feelings, boo hooo, lol.

Can't we just get over this?

Even our loving mods use noob. Just ask Nos and Yoozel.

If you join their chapter, you're automatically a noob.

Yep, 1 mod for every 100,000 users. I woud say we do a pretty good job for those kinds of numbers.

Find out if he has a b.net login. If he does, threaten to blacklist him for life until he gets the pizza. Preferably free. Brilliant.

I remember reading a very wise statement made by non other than Frankie:

What does "Noob" mean? I hear it all the time when i'm playing on Live. Sometimes directed at me and sometimes at others. I get that it's an insult, but what does it literally mean?

It's short for "Newbie" meaning, "New Player." It is used exclusively by players who've apparently forgotten that without exception, they were recently "noobs" too. Anyway, it's a general insult and it's often applied in the following context - "Noob-Combo." Referring to Plasma Pistol and Battle Rifle combo, which is far from a Noob combo. In fact a real noob combo would be one Needler and a handkerchief.

The wise bit being:

It is used exclusively by players who've apparently forgotten that without exception, they were recently "noobs" too.

It's so true. People only use it because everyone else uses it. Perhpas then the word or varients should be filtered?

People just need to respect other players. I've seen a community forum for a game made in 1998 and its not filtered and few people break the rules, its just an honesty thing.

Couldn't put it better myself. Unfortunatly, we can't trust people to last of the bad language if the filter was turned off. There' honesty and trust to be concidered, but i wouldn't trust a lot of people here.
