I don't know if it has been posted yet, but during the X03 documentary at time point 4:22, in the background there is a screen saver with the Master Chief riding what appears to be a hover-bike of some sort, similar to other Covenant vehicles is shape and aesthetic. It also looks similar to the speeder bike Dooku rides during Episode II. Is this a new vehicle or something that scrapped and just included during the X03 interviews to entice us?

Never-the-less, I included it in my The Facts About Halo 2 thread at another board.

Its a prophet chair.

Are you sure? It doesn't look like the renders of the chair I've seen and the Master Chief is in it. How about you take another look at the specific time point I'm advising of.

I looked again. Still looks like a Phrophet chair.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Hedwig is right. Its the Prophet's chair, even though the Chief is riding it... just another cool background screen Bungie included in the Documentary just for -blam!-s and giggles.

Hell, maybe the Chief will overthrow the Covenant Empire, and rule it himself? Hehehehe....it won't happen.

Heh, I'm not so certain. Perhaps I'm wrong but does anyone have a link to a Prophet in chair render, because the concept art chair looks nothing like this. It honestly looks like he's driving it (or controlling it's movement) to some degree....

The notion that the Master Chief "rules the ring" has nothing to do with him appearing animated in the Prophet's throne

Now, actually seeing the Prophet's throne confirms that this is absolutely not the same vehicle. They don't look anything alike. In fact there's really no way you can compare the two. The Prophet's chair (if this is one of the final renders which I'd have to say it is) has sharp corners, clear-cut segments and what appears to be lights and a variety of jutting extensions.

However, this thing shown at 4:22 on the X03 documentary appears to nearly be one material (if it's segmented it's not even remotely as overt as the Prophet's throne) and the front end of this thing rises up towards the Master Chief's front in one piece (much like some sort of control system, steering mechanism), something which never happens on any side of the Prophet's throne. That aside, the bottom of this alleged vehicle swoops down between his leg in what appears to be one solid piece about a meter in width. The Prophet's throne doesn't though, it's a flat panel which runs parallel to the lower housing of the throne.

The only thing that appears remotely similar is the back, and it's extremely difficult to tell because the back of the image on the X03 video is blurry. Everything else appears to be different which leaves us with a few possibilities. If it is a render of Master Chief on a Prophet's chair, than it's a different version than we have ever seen of it. If it's not than it must either be a new vehicle that will be included in Halo 2 or something that was scrapped early or perhaps done without intentions of it being in the game to begin with.

From what we know about the Prophet's throne, it looks nothing like that at all.

To be entirely honest, I think Bungie is way too cautious and smart to leak something that we haven't already seen in one form or another. To me it looks like a form of a Prophet's chair with a POSSIBLE Master Chief SITTING in it. I highly doubt that's what it is, and if it is anything of the sort, it is probably some sort of Bungie joke, either on us or inside the company. If you watch the screens in the background of the video they mostly show shots and renders we've already seen. It seems very unlikely that it's something new that we haven't been informed about.

Actually no, the screens show a lot of in-game shots (cursory HUD included), one which shows a reticule matching the M6D. This doesn't appear to be an in-game shot of course, but never-the-less the most authentic render and concept art for the Prophet's throne make it look a lot more complicated and different than the render of the Chief on whatever he's on.

He's riding whatever it is, so I guess you could make the claim that it's a chair, but he's riding it and it looks nothing like the Prophet's throne. Keep in mind that I'm not saying this is in the game or that it's not a joke, it very well may be, however I am saying that it's not the Prophet's chair, it looks nothing like it.

Yeah I see your point. Anyway, what would it do if it isn't a Prophet's chair.

Maybe the Chief just wanted to sit down and take a breather, so he knocked a Prophet off his chair and stole it.

W/e it is, Chief looks pretty funny sitting in it.

I have no clue. Obviously with the Ghost and ATV there's really no reason for a single rider craft so this idea may have been scrapped or shelved but as far as I am aware of you don't "ride" a chair, you sit in it. The Chief is riding this chair.

It is entirely possible though that with new multiplayer games like "Assault" and with the likely possibility that there will be Live Co-op that there will be a greater need for quick infiltration. This could very well be an answer to it or just a previously created vehicle that got shafted early because the Ghost worked out better. It does, however, look like a new render of the Chief and the graphics look like the Halo 2 renders we've seen. I'd say it's 100% vehicle and 50/50 on it being one that will be useable in Halo 2 just because it seems a tad redundant.

With the ATV rumored to be faster than the Ghost, who knows, this could be a balancing vehicle. Then there's the possibility that it's not a cycle, but some kind of pod or transport, perhaps even human in origin. In fact it's more likely that it's the human counter of the Banshee using Covenant technology (like much the human's technology already does). It could be the flyable vehicle. Why not show it in a quick screen here for teaser purposes. The fans who watch for this stuff would notice it, and there's no reason to not slide something like that in there.

I'd agree with you, but he's not sitting in it. Whatever it is, chair or otherwise, he's not sitting in it, but rather riding it. It's quite clear by the picture, there's really no argument there.

It looks to me like he's sitting in a sort of reclined position...

it's a prophet's chair... looking at the two images (pic and vid) there is no doubt in my mind. you can see where the two "Armrests" end in the same place as the chair. the thing sticking out the bottom is in the same place. your just looking at it for a different angle.

as to why the chief is in it - if it even is the chief - it's probably one of the artist or programmers mucking around.

I don't expect this to convice you all... just my opinion.
