If bungie adds perks in Reach they would need to change the gameplay a lot to make it fair it could take so much change that we would not have one bit of good old Halo a little change is good but to much is a bad thing thats why I dont want perks

Some of these "Final triumph card" can be restricted in some playlist, shield regenerator in Swat, tough skin(less damage recieved) in Grifball, etc...

Yeah, these are some great ideas!

I would like perks but your ideas seem really unbalanced. Just balancing your ideas and they'd be good but something like dual wielding any weapon or faster reload. I think we know which is going to win. Faster reloading and faster rate of fire from automatic guns seem like they are going down the right path but others like dualwielding anything would destroy gameplay. ( 2 Brs = 2 shot or 3. Probably as good as rockets)

Pretty good, but no thanks.

Halo is about everybody starting out as equils, not about perks.

Perks have been the mainstay of the Call Of Duty 4 series Multiplayer, so why shouldn't the (possibly) greatest game series ever have them? You guys got any ideas of some halo style perks?

Here's mine:

Stealth Armor: Decreases the range at which other people detect you on their radars
Grenade pouches: Carry more grenades. Nuff' said
NVGs: Night Vision. Do you seriously need me to explain this one?
Super Radar: Opposite of Stealth Armor
Dual Triggers: Fire at twice the rate for all automatic weapons
Servo skeleton: Can Dual wield normally single wield weapons (dual rockets ^_^)
Ammo pouches: Carry more ammo
Battle stims: FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN SOLIDER! Your health is 50% more damage resistant.
Martyrdom: Don't hate on me for this one >.>
Supreme Reflexes: Reloading goes faster.
Steady Hands: Less recoil

The perks you are suggesting definitely need to be balanced, many of these perks are more bull$hitty than the current Battle Rifle (not to mention ripped straight from COD4, which you addressed in your later paragraphs).

Otherwise I am, and always will be in support of custom classes for Reach.

I think your idea will never happen because its completely against halo's style. Bungie wouldn't go for that type of stuff. And besides there's a reason why I prefer halo over call of duty. It's because of halo's style, perks would completely ruin the flow of gameplay that some many people come to love.

ok people, if you don't like it don't even post. stop beating up on him. like he said, he hasn't played COD so he doesn't know. so if you disaggree make a mature(which i know you all are)post without goin' all -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- all the time!!! so make a mature statement and move on

  • 09.04.2009 9:16 PM PDT

Halo is not COD. perks would be one of the lamest thing in halo.

>.> You could have mentioned you wanted some ideas inserted...Then I would have just said "Lets be a little more original" Then added these.
Brawler-Extra melee damage when using beat down
Covenant follower-Does a bit extra damage with covvie weaponry extra damage depends on weapon used
UNSC Veteran-Does a bit extra damage with UNSC weaponry extra damage depends on weapon used
Survivor-When low health/Shields damage increases slightly and you move slightly faster
CQB-Shotgun type weapons have shorter range but do more damage
Hawk Eye- Faster reload with Sniper type weapons and better accuracy.
Pure Soldier- AR,BR,Magnum,PR,Carbine, and PP do slightly more damage and have a bit more accuracy.
Bio-Foam- Use to regain health (Not shields) instantly.

Just a few thoughts
Ideas like these.

And for the hell of it I'll add some too.

Lighten the Load: Allows you to move 10% faster but decreases your energy shields by 10% Stronger versions of this perk will increase the exchanged speed and shield stats, Lighten the load #2 will change the exchange stats to 30% and #3 will change the exchange stats to 50%, can not be combined with "Bulk Up"

Tank: Increases your energy shields by 10% but you move 10% slower. (The opposite of Lighten the Load, yada yada yada).

Reckless Warrior: The lunge range of the Energy Sword is slightly increased and Gravity Hammer "splash" range is increased slightly, but melee attacks take a little longer to execute and recover from.

Demo man: "Splash" range from all explosive weapons is increased slightly, but reload times are much slower and you can only carry half as many grenades.

*already suggested obviously* Brawler-Extra melee damage when using beat down (I propose that melee attacks are slightly faster as well with this perk.)

Team Player: When within short (probably the range of a Bubble Shield) range of another team mate, your shields and speed are increased by 7% for every player you are near. (Maximum of five players). In addition, when holding the Bomb or Flag, the stats for the carrier are increased to 10% per person instead of 7%.

I'm also temped to put one in with something to do with faster shield regeneration but I can't think of anything totally adamant.

Hi. I'm AlbinoKola1. Currently I am not into Halo. I love to post on the forums though and I will always try to give my best opinion. My goal is to rise in the forum ranks and to have my space cowboy become a familiar symbol. I have one quote that shishka will use. If you send me a message, I'm sorry if I don't respond.

Honestly, perks would unbalance the system. If you and someone else engage eachother in a Br battle. Both of you four shot eachother and only you die because he had an extrahealth perk. That doesn't sound fair. The perk system works in Cod because people die easly. Halo is based off of everyone being equal.

  • 09.04.2009 9:52 PM PDT

this whole thing is stupid

  • 09.04.2009 10:06 PM PDT

I have an idea. How about they call perks, power ups, and unlockable equipment just like all the silencers, and armor in Counter-Strike or SOCOM or Rainbow Six? Because those are technically perks.

Why not just call it CoD6, re-skinned?

  • 09.05.2009 8:36 PM PDT

Ugh, absolutely not.

Perks are one of the features that turned me away from COD4, and I would not want that feature to transfer over into a Halo game. No thanks sir. :/

I did read it, and it makes no sense. I cant say i dont like the idea? If only people who liked the idea were allowed to post Bungie would have no way to tell what ideas are wanted and what ideas are disliked.

Anyway, i hate the idea, no offense. First because it isnt original at all. CoD already uses a perk system. Halo doesnt. They are completely separate games and that's what makes them fun. Also, i hate perks in CoD. I dont have much time to play games with work/school, and perks are basically rewarded for playing more games and getting more exp. I hate being at a disadvantage because i cant get on as much, on top of having less experience at the game.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

No.

Halo is balanced because every player starts exactly the same, with the same capabilities.

Adding in perks also screws up the learning curve, since newer players won't have access to all of the perks, giving them fewer options as opposed to just less practice, as it is currently.

With perks, you don't know what gave you the kill: Your skill and map control, or the perk that you unlocked.

I don't want these. They are getting very common, and I don't like the gameplay that follows these features.

I am Shot, I love video games, and books.
I am damn good with a rifle, and love peace and quiet.
I'm a furry.

If I wanted perks I wouldn't have sold Call of duty 4&5 so that I may reserve ODST and Reach.

And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be.... but fighting is all left to me....together with my army of brothers...down we fall....darkness in all..through hell...

If a player wants enhanced capabilities go for the overshield/ active camo.
Perks ruin the entire fundamentals of halo gameplay. Everyone starts out equal and has to look around the map for damage increasing weapons. Thats how Halo works.
