Don't Ask Bungie For Recon

Do You Think Bungie Will Include A Option To Allow Players To Build Custom Maps: Aka FORGE

Seeing As Halo 3 Is Kept Very Much Alive By Its Community (Thats Us) And Seeing As The Content Sharing Is Another Big Factor I Think We Will See A Much Inproved Forge Based System.

Any Thoughts, Or Suggestions

My Ideas
- Player activateable objects, Doors, Windows ECT
- Pre built structures, EG: Human Sniper Towers, Bases like the tsavo highway ones
- Human weapon boxes
- A System to edit a wharthog, Not A Great Idea
- Oh And lets not forget less fusion coils.

the forge was a last minute idea in halo 3, so they will probably put a much better version in reach

the pre-built structures is a good idea.
These are some o my ideas:
1: an easier way of placing walls. for example, you would select a spot for an object to spawn and it would automatically pop up where you selected. it would make placing walls soo much easier and make them stand straight up
2: a copy and paste option
3: A paintbrush along with a transparency setting for the colors (to change the color of objects)
4: flooring items. EX: an item that spreads grass, snow, wood, etc. on a certain area
5: more forms of gravity lifts
6: placeable invisible barriers to box off areas

Invisible barriers would be good. Looks like a blue shiny wall or something in forge mode but not there in Custom Games or Matchmaking. Like Respawn points how they dissappear. I'd definatley like to see some updates.

EDIT: I want them to keep the glitches. That's how so many kick ass maps were made.

I want a map editor. Either something like FarCry 2's or, what I'd prefer, a pc map editor where I can import stuff and upload it to the console.

I think, after what people did with Forge, Bungie realizes that the community wants a map editor.

I do think Forge will exist though, but there will be more powerful tools as well.

I never knew that. That is probably why there are so many glitches.

Yeah I read in OXM that they almost didnt include it. it was in the issue featuring the article about the campaign level that got removed from the game.

I agree that it would be nice to edit and make maps on your pc. I hope they have alot more options in reach

I assure* you that Forge will come...and better than ever

Of course Bungie will keep forge. Read any interview with a Bungie Employee about forge. In each they say how amazed they are that their community can create such wonderful things with such limited tools. Its one of the things that has made Halo 3 legendary. They would be idiots to cut it out in Reach.

If anything, its going to be even better. Forge in Halo 3 was rushed, you can tell by looking at the default maps, which were really designed to be forged so that weapon placement and vehicle placement could be altered, it was only till later that they added more interesting things. Now that they have a ton more time, they can turn it into something amazing.

Have real geometry customization and placement. For example, turning something like this, into a shape like this. This way users can customize the map however they want as opposed to being stuck with whatever mishapen block is available.

Also, the ability to just place things wherever I want; no more stacking a thousand double boxes up high to make a floating platform. Just drag it where you want, let go, and it won't fall down.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Glue, from Little Big Planet.
